Really need some help with battery issues
Wednesday 19th of June 2013
I bought the S4 the day after it was released on Verizon. It's my first trip back to Android from iOS since the Moto Droid 1 and I love it, the options are vast and superior. However my battery life seems to be very low. For a 2600 mAh battery I'm only getting about 10 hours off charger with about 2 1/2 hours of screen on time and I hit about 30% battery. That's with Mobile Data off, Power Saver Mode On, GPS off, All Gestures off, Wifi On (full service) and adjusted Auto Display. I went to Verizon and they switched out my battery to see if that may have been the problem but it doesn't seem to have helped. I'm currently running Battery Guru to see if it can help assess the situation. My question is this, is it possible that there's a fault in the phone and not battery? Would calling Samsung and having them give me a new phone be worth my while or just more trouble? My main uses are showing Screen at 51% and Android System at 23% (I feel like the OS should not be using up that much battery) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot guys! Horrendous battery life
Wednesday 28th of August 2013
So after perusing the forums for a bit, I've discovered that my brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 (I just got this phone yesterday) is saying that it only has 12m 47s on battery which I find ridiculous and confusing considering that I've turned off many of my features. I also have the Mophie case which I've had to use quite a bit since my phone drained from 85% to 41% in the 3 and a half hours I was at work (therefore, it wasn't being used). Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this? I bought this phone because of the good battery life (my iPhone had the worst battery life known to man) but it seems like I'm having some issues with this guy. I do have the power saver options on as well as auto brightness.
Motorola Droid Maxx or Samsung Note 3
Tuesday 15th of October 2013
I currently have the Galaxy S3 and hate the battery life, it sucks for my usage 6 to 7 hours then its almost dead, even on power saver mode. I have had the phone for a week and can take it back for a return. I am upgrading to the Motorola Droid Maxx due to the battery life extension and slightly bigger screen. However, the price is the same as the Note 3. My questions are: Is this a mistake for a purchase vs the Note 3? How is the battery life of the Note 3 comparitive? Note 3 that much better? The S4 is also $100 dollars cheaper than both.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Vietnam Version
Monday 09th of December 2013
I have got myself an S4, Made in Vietnam. Configured it for GMail, synced it, however I found that I could not access Play Store. Apparently, the OS is configured to restrict the user to install apps only from Samsung Apps (which are pre-installed in the phone). Additionally, I am experiencing weak wifi connection and short battery time. I installed Easy Battery Saver, it started interfering in WiFi connections. I downloaded WiFi Booster apk file and installed it. Not only that this did not help wifi connections it also blocked facebook. Did a factory reset, and the set is working as previously i.e. weak wifi connection and short battery time. Intend rooting the set for better performance and for accessing Play Store. I would like to know that if if I root, will the performance improve? Will I be able to access Google Play Store, GMail, facebook and other similar sites? Most important: Is the process reversible?
help with new s4 today uk
Monday 06th of January 2014
Hi all I'm wanting to root my phone and understand that would give me full access to do as I wish with the phone like install a snappier cleaner custom room and kernel that can double battery life I've been told ? My main issue is all the Samsung crap currently running that I will never use that no matter how many times I kill with a task manager are back on within minutes , this in turn is ruining my experience with the phone as battery saver mode is on throttling performance my screen brightness is set so low it might as well not be on ! If people could tell me the best custom room available and kernel and what I need to do and anything else I need to know to get the best power consumption and performance I can it will be gratefully apretiated The phone is a month old and was on Vodafone but I popped a three network sim in and it worked so guessing it's unlocked ? It's running android 4.3 any info needed let me know as want to get this done as soon as possible thanks in advance for the help Posted via Android Central App
New to smartphone - May return $400 S4 mini to sprint
Tuesday 18th of February 2014
I just got a new S4 mini from sprint. This is my first smartphone. I have been using a Sanyo Rl-4920. I am writing cause my battery life seems extremely poor, particularly to my Sanyo RL-4920. I felt I could leave the sanyo for a week or two before recharging. However, my $400 smartphone appears to need to be charged daily. Recharged S4 mini all night last night (turned off). I turned it on today at 10 am, made one 5 minute phone call, did nothing else with the phone all day. At 10 pm, battery saver software says battery is at 42%. I am going to leave it on all night to see what happens. It appears though the standby is about 24 hours. The specs from samsung is 300 hours. If the actual function of the phone is only 10% of advertised, it essentially is not functioning. What good is a smartphone if you can't turn it on due to a dead battery? The features are neat, but not worth it if I essentially have to leave the phone plugged in, I would rather use a laptop. Anyways, is this normal? I turned off everything I thought I could that would not disrupt phone calls and text messages. I d
