2.2 froyo - Can I update my android system although the USB port is broken?

Saturday 07th of July 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
The USB port of my LG-p500 is not capable of exchanging data anymore (the device or any dmesg do not show up when connected to a computer). Charging still works, fortunately. Due to some annoying software bugs (Android 2.2, original LG supplied), I'd like to update the operating system to a newer Android version.Do I have any chance to upgrade?---- EDIT ----For completeness, I include a screen of the update notification screen (Menu -> Update notification). It says it is updated, but the version V10R_00 was the one supplied initially with the phone. Furthermore, it tells me to connect it to the PC suite, a LG software.

Help needed with android update, social.widget and battery dying. Help!!!!

Sunday 19th of August 2012 / android.net
Hi!! Am new here, and so glad I googled android.net. Have to say, I thought I knew quite a bit about android etc, but just realised am actually completely ignorant!!! I require some help on how to make sure my social widget works? I try logging into facebook from it but it does not work. The facebook one is no good as its so small. I want it on my home screen but it does not seem to work. Anyone have those issues? Also, my battery does not seem to last more.than.a couple.of hours! This is not related to how much I use the phone as it happens even when am sleeping. I dont know if just buying a new battery would help or if somethibg else could be wrong with it? And lastly, I currently have android 2.2 and am on 3, how can I update my android version? It won't let me go into update software in settings! Would really appreciate some help. Thanks Sent from my Dell Streak using Android.net

Can't Upgrade my S3 from version 4.1.1 to latest

Saturday 21st of December 2013 / androidforums.com
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Lte GT-I9305 & I dont have the update software function or developer settings. I'm on a 2 year contract with Orange/EE (U.K) which ends November 2014. I'm wanting to upgrade my andriod version to the latest one as im still on Android version 4.1.1I know how to access the phone setting to restore to factory settings & custom ROM using Power off/on button, Homescreen button & Volume up/down button. Any ideas how I can update my android version ? I'm not sure how to do custom ROM and dont want to damage my mobile. If anyone knows how I can upgrade my android version or how I can get the software upgrade function to work on my mobile, It would be much appreciated.I have seen the factory restore menu but never actually done a restore and not sure what I would need to do, Ff this was the case. Not sure if restoring my mobile to factory settings would sort anything out. I am missing out on new features due to not having the latest android version.

Why Doen't My Android Phone Get OTA Updates Greater Than 2.3.6?

Saturday 25th of October 2014 / androidforums.com
Hello All! I just purchased a new (2011 model) Samsung Stratosphere SCH-I405 cell phone from Ebay.com. As soon as I got it and set it up there was a notification of an available update. I let the update proceed and when I logged back in I checked the Android version 2.3.6. I have had the phone for about a week now and haven't got any other OTA updates. Is 2.3.6 the highest Android version my phone will ever get (through an OTA update)? Do older phones not get the latest Android updates and if so why? Is it because Verizon (my carrier) has decided to not update my phone as an incentive to buy a newer one? Or is it something like a hardware compatibility issue? If I am never going to get a higher version by an OTA is the some other way I can update my Android version? Perhaps go to Samsung or Verizon's website and download an update.zip file? If this option is not available is the only other option I have is to root my phone and install a custom ROM? Or can I root my phone, find a higher Android update.zip file somewhere, and update the phone that way? (I guess I would have to make sur

VS980 4G - Can't update from jellybean

Tuesday 23rd of December 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I few months ago I bought a new LG G2 unlocked VERIZON device at the US (but I live overseas, and use a local sim and carrier). It's working smoothly. However just cannot update my jellybean version... I've tried it all: OTA, rooted with towelroot, updated drivers, and even tried, but failed, to install a new rom: I got stuck at the TWRP update. I've downloaded the KKBAseband and the CloudyG3. But since I haven't been able to update the TWRP to the right version of my phone (failed once after the other) I haven't continued.I really, really would thank any help on a relatively simple way to update my android version...Any idea?THANKS!!!!
