All in One WiFi Hotspot and USB Tether by SVTP, an Alternative to FoxFi

Monday 17th of September 2012 / androidheadlines.com
We received a tip about a WiFi and USB tethering application made by SVTP, which as Android users, we love. For those who tend to have troubles with FoxFi, you may want to give this one a try. There are two¬†versions: free and professional. The difference between the two is quite large actually, seeing as how the paid version is a whopping $15. That price tag may seem a bit outrageous, but for software that just works and allows for free tethering, it’s up to you whether you think that price is worth it.¬†Best piece of advice I could give is to try out the free version first to see if it works best for you. The free version allows for two days of free tethering, then you ar…Continue Reading HereAll in One WiFi Hotspot and USB Tether by SVTP, an Alternative to FoxFi – droid-life.com

Is it just me or does USB Tether work much better on V0.61

Wednesday 29th of December 2010 / droidforums.net
Since I installed the new BB, my USB Tether has been much faster. Has anyone else experienced the same speed jump since upgrading? Is there any other droid apps that boost 3G or makes USB Tether faster? Thanks in advance, stead.

USB Tether No desktop software

Sunday 08th of August 2010 / droidforums.net
As we're all aware, Verizon axed both wireless and USB tether from 2.2. I am planning on rooting the phone as soon as I get the update (I have a copy of Easyroot (and yes the apk, so the being off of the market doesn't stop me)).Wireless tether is easy as I can download "Wireless Tether for Root Users" but I had a question on USB tethering. Is there any app which can (like native 2.2 usb tether) will provide usb tethering without needing any desktop software? As I said apps that require root would be fine. Thanks!

3g Throttling Cap/USB Tether/Wifi Tether

Tuesday 26th of April 2011 / androidforums.com
Does anybody happen to know the throttling cap amount for Virgin Mobile? Ive heard anything from 2gb, to 3gb, and up to 10gb. I just want to be sure what the real cap is so I know how to set my 3g watchdog. =) ALSO can anyone here suggest a good usb tethering app other than PDAnet, keep in mind my phone is NOT rooted. On another side note how many of you guys use Wifi Tethering with your Optimus V. I read somewhere that its against the TOS to use Wifi Tether since the option is technically disabled. Have any of you been throttled or cut off from 3g because of using wifi tether? Answering any of these questions would be great =)

Monday 28th of March 2011 / droidforums.net
Is there a simple easy way to USB tether. I am using [ROM BETA] Stock Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 Build GPA15 and have tried to the to my Laptop without any luck. It used to work fine with froyo but since I have been using GB I have not been able to get it to work for the life of me. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I cant seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. I can ADB, Mount the SD, USB debugging ETC but no tether.

can't usb tether since update

Saturday 11th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
So yesterday my phone updated and ever since, in addition to a seemingly faster battery drain, I haven't been able to USB tether to my computer. Because we don't have internet outside of that, I need to be able to tether. I use PDANet+ and the pop up prompts go to "connecting to phone" and never move beyond that. The phone still shows on my computer as a drive, so it's not related to that afaik. I updated PDANet thinking it was an issue they knew of and had fixed, but still no luck. Any advice? Non Root usb tether and data usage

Sunday 19th of October 2014 / androidforums.com
For those of us who are not rooted wanted to possibly discuss how we are dealing with data and internet....---------------------------I had been "borrowing" internet via wifi for home pc. This unfortunately ended when source moved. Now with no open wifi available nearby and not being able to afford cable internet at moment must rely on usb phone tether.I tried PDANet+ and wifi tether lite and have found PDA to be a good fit since it allows https sites which tether lite wont.As per a recent post onhttp://www.makeuseof.com/tag/save-money-mobile-internet-data-bill-apps-tricksWondering if anyone has tried Opera Max and/or UC Browser HDClaims they help compress data and save data usageI am just starting to try both so its to early to tell if they work.So if there are any others non rooted out there in similar situation wondering what apps or work around ur using.BTW should mention that can run PDANet usb tether or via bluetooth ...usb seems faster though

FoxFi (slow usb tether)

Tuesday 13th of January 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
So I just got my verizon note 4, about 4 days ago. I did some research to tether hidden, since I have the unlimited plan still, with Verizon. Now, I downloaded, and paid, for foxfi and foxfi addon, tried it out last night, and the tether speeds were horrible. I actually stream to twitch with my 4G usb tether connection, and with my previous phone (Iphone 5) I could stream , usb tethered, with a solid 1800-2200kb/s steady connection. When I tried the note 4, and fofxi usb tethered, last night, I got a unsteady 1000-1200kb/s connection. Anything I need to do to fix this? I am sitting at the same spot in my house, as I was with the iphone. Also, my sleek 4G booster, that I sometimes used with my Iphone, makes the connection worse on the 4G, which is weird. Basically my jailbroke Iphone 5 4G usb tether speeds were twice as fast as this note 4 using foxfi.... Any suggestions? (using the standard usb cable that came with my note 4, and tried multiple usb3.0 and 2.0 usb ports)
