Samsung Galaxy Discover -Custom OS Install Fault?
Saturday 16th of March 2013
First:I just got this phone and the only thing I did was install a few requested updates -and Angry Birds, the update of which failed to download(thought I'd use a Mall's wifi. lol).I thought, perhaps that was causing this error,so I removed it,but,it happened again yesterday:Now and again(usually only happens once in a day, thankfully!),when I start up the phone,I see this screen that says something like this:"A custom OS has failed to install.Press volume up to continue,or voluime down to load normally."There is a big yellow caution triangle with an exclamation mark. After pressing the voulme down button, everything proceeeds as normal.Any ideas?
Custom OS Warning
Monday 13th of May 2013
Hi,I'm completely new to Android. Finally moved from iPhone But I'm confused by a warning I got the other day. Being the paranoid type I thought I'd check it out.So I turned my phone off to concentrate on the pub, when I turned it back on later, there was some kind of message saying "Installing custom OS can harm your device..." (or something along those blurred lines). And gave an option to "Install" or "Ignore". I clicked install, and the little android alien fella showed up with "Installing...". I had no idea what it was doing so I held the standby button until it went off.The phone seems fine, but I'm wondering what that was and if some kind of software I don't want is on my phone. There was no mention of "Update" etc. Is there any way I can check to see if something dodgy has been installed?Cheers,R

Wednesday 19th of June 2013
The T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy S3 can be updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using a custom ROM such as AvatarROM. Use this guide and you’ll learn how to successfully flash the new custom OS for your device in under 10 minutes. The Avatar ROM uses features and functions from CyanogenMod 10.1 Release Candidate 5, AOSP Android 4.2.2 JB, MIUI ROMs and from the stock Samsung TouchWiz UI. It borrows the status bar from CM 10.1, it packs a theme chooser for both CM and MIUI themes, Bazooka Launcher, dockbar added, messaging app, boot animation, themeable emoticons, font theming, OTA updating tool, multiple lock screen features, weebo etc. There are tons of other features and functions that will be installed along with the AvatarROM. Help! Warning!! A custom OS can cause critical problems...
Friday 25th of October 2013
I've looked around this forum and others and can't find a solution to my problem. I tried to restart my Samsung Galaxy S4 today and it came up with the: "Warning!! A custom OS can cause critical problems..." screen. I have tried pressing the volume keys as the message describes, and also tried holding down Volume Up/Down, the power button and the home button, which people have suggested would work. This just turns the screen blank, until I let go and the phone vibrates and returns itself to the Warning screen. I have never tried rooting my phone and it had been working fine until today. Anyone got any suggestions or should I get in touch with my insurance/ network/ Samsung?
