Severe memory problems (dialer storage)
Tuesday 20th of November 2012
For about the past two weeks, my phone has been displaying the "low on space" notification, and when I click on the notification, it shows that dialer storage is at the very top with 68.29MB of data. I'm aware that dialer storage is where the phone keeps the text messages, however, at this stage I can no longer even delete messages or threads with the default messaging app, which tells me "Unable to manage your messages because your storage is full. Please delete content from other applications to make more space." I use a market app to text, however, I cant delete old messages there either. Ive set limits on messages (800) but that hasn't done anything. Ive also cleared data from over 90% of my apps, including mail, etc. I don't understand how or why I have low space because my phone says it has 149MB of total space, and somehow only 580KB remaining. I have nothing other than dialer storage that takes up over even 5MB of data.ive also tried moving apps to the SD card, to no avail, as well as wiping the cache partition numerous times.I have the HTC droid incredibl
Disk space problem with "Dialer Storage"
Sunday 07th of November 2010
when i go to "Manage Applications" and go to "All" it shows "Dialer Storage" taking up 56.21MB. That seems WAY too high for any app. If I clear the cache for that does it just wipe the history of my phone dialer, or what exactly is that, and what will clearing the cache do? HTC Incredible
Dialer Storage HELP
Friday 18th of November 2011
Ok, I had the same problem everyone else had with the latest GB update, and following instructions on 2 of the threads here I was able to get it installed. I'm now running 4.08.605.2, and think I have a handle on what's been causing the Low Storage message that originally prevented me from updating. However, since updating I can NO LONGER "Clear data" for Dialer Storage in Application Manager. I remember specially being able to do that before the update (4.06.605.3), because I hesitated doing it while clearing up space until I backed up my SMS/MMS messages. I was able to get the GB patch installed, I backed up my messages, and then went to clear the data only to see it wasn't an option! So, I manually deleted all my SMS/MMS messages, and Dialer Storage is still 15MB. I had read on other threads that when the SMS/MMS database gets corrupted and all message are lost (happened to me twice) that they aren't really deleted, and that clearing data is the only way to wipe them. Except, now I can't clear data for Dialer Storage anymore! Anyone have any idea how I can reclaim that 1

Every now and then I clear the Cache and sometimes the Data from my apps. My Dialer Storage app currently has 8MB of Data, but I've seen it as high as 30MB in the past. What information is stored in the Dialer Storage Data? It's not the actual phone numbers is it? Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Low on Space notification/Dialer Storage?
Thursday 10th of November 2011
I have been looking at other threads on this topic and none of them seem to provide step by step instructions for an HTC Eris phone. I am getting a "Low on Space" notification on my phone. when I go into the applications and sort by size, the biggest app (by a significant margin) is Dialer Storage. I have tried clearig the cache, deleting old text messages, and pulling the battery. none of it seems to make any dent in the space Dialer storage is taking up (almost 100MB). Some other threads say to delete the Dialer storage data, but I cannot find how to do that. The only options I see on the screen are 1)clear cache (done that, currently at 0.00B), 2) clear defaults (grayed out button which can't be pushed), or 3) force stop. Can someone tell me how to clear the dialer storage data? If i clear the dialer storage data will I lose my contacts too? I don't care about anything else but I would like to write down my contacts first if I would be losing that data. Any help would be great.
What is Contact Storage? and why cant i delete Dialer storage anymore?

Before gingerbread i could delete Dialer Storage which was just all my text...it was at 60 mb...now after the update its greyed out and its at 20mb again. What exactly is Contact Storage? what would happen if i delete that? Tired of always hovering around 45mb free space.
Can I move "Dialer Storage" memory somewhere other than the Application data space?
Friday 09th of September 2011
I have a rooted Droid Inc. and keep getting the "Application data is low on space" message. I don't have very many apps but my dialer storage is 85MB!! I have cleared all SMS/MMS and the cache on all apps that would allow as well as used Titanium Back-up to freeze the bloatware. My question is, is there a way to either A) allocate more of my 150MB out of 750MB to application data (or take the restriction off completely) or B) move the "Dialer Storage" memory somewhere else? If so how? I am rooted. Thanks!PS: What happens if I clear the data for dialer storage? loose contacts?

Okay so I've searched and searched and searched but I can't seem to find an answer to my question. How the hell do you delete the dialer storage?????I get the low storage space error every other day, and my dialer storage is sitting at 25 mb. (But of course only a fifth of my internal storage is actually full... P.O.S. dinc!!)My phone is rooted on a stockish version of GB 2.3.4, with s-on. I tried clearing it (along with a bunch of other clearing and freezing) with titanium backup but my phone got stuck in boot loop afterwards, so I wasn't sure if deleting the dialer storage was the problem or if it was something else I did. NEedless to say I don't want to try that again...just yet..Anyone know how to fix this?
30k Text Messages and Dialer Storage. Oye!
Monday 12th of August 2013
So I have over 30k text messages I'm having trouble deleting. Phone locks up every time I try. So I googled and saw a mention of deleting the data in Dialer Storage. It was greyed out to tried a force stop so I could clear it. FAIL. I still can't clear it and now it would appear it's not running anymore as the force stop option and all others are greyed out even after a restart and even a battery and sim pull. Did I doom myself to a factory reset to A. Restart dialer storage and b. Get rid of all these texts? Anyone? Help? Lol Posted via Android Central App
Force stopped dialer storage; how to reactivate?
Sunday 10th of August 2014
In an atempt to be able to use skype to make calls, i.e. to get a prompt when I make a call. I searched the net and found a number of answers that I should delete the 'dialer storage'. When I tried all the options and buttons (in Application manager) were greyed out except for 'Force stop', so I pressed that; not knowing what I did. Since then there has been no difference in the functioning of the phone. Phoning, sending messages, ... all history is still there. What does the dialer storage actually do? since the functionality of my phone is the same as before? Thanx!
