WARNING64GB SDCard & Encryption Don't Play Well Together
Friday 16th of November 2012
I was recently trying to help someone out that had questions about encrypting the SDCard, and have come to the conclusion that Samsung did not test this feature appropriately. It's certainly possible that what happened to me was an isolated incident, or some fault of my own, but based on my testing I don't think that's the case. Scenario: I have a SanDisk 64GB UHS 1 SDCard that's been working fine since July. I originally formatted it in the phone (which causes it to be formatted as exfat)I followed the process to enable encryption on the SDCard and during the actual encryption process I received an error: 'SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem.'So I turned off encryption and received the (well known) "SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." error. All attempts to reformat the SDCard in the phone have been unsuccessful - the card either doesn't show up at all (so it can't be mounted) or it just shows the same "Damaged SD card" message. So, I shut down the phone and put the SDCard in an adapter connected to my PC. Attempts to clean/repartition/reformat
cyanogenmod - How to boot the Mele A1000 in recovery mode
Saturday 30th of March 2013
I installed CWM on my Mele A1000 and I was able to reboot into recovery modeusing adb.At which point I got the CWM menu where I was able to install files from SD, wipe cache etc...After installing all the files (Cyanogen) I rebooted, now when the device starts all I see is the Cyanogen splash screen for a few minutes and then a message indicating: Encryption Unsuccessful. Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result the data on your tablet is no longer accessible. To resume using your tablet, you must perform a factory reset. When you set up your tablet after the reset ....This message looks like it's part of the standard Android system.Since CWM is installed I should be able to access it in order to install somethingelse, but I cannot figure out how to reboot in recovery/cwm mode. There is no hardware button other than the power button on the Mele A1000
Android 4.0: Encryption Unsuccessful
Monday 24th of December 2012
Never saw this one before. One of my tablets started freezing where I had to hold down power until it rebooted. Shortly after it came up with this screen with a hard reset button and basically told me I HAD to factory reset it. Crying out 'BS!' I held down power again until it rebooted again only this time I got the Android robot with red triangle Icon like no OS was installed. Then I got frustrated and threw the tablet onto the floor assuming since it was bricked I might as well break it. Well it didnt break and started booting normally again but now my apps are all gone as if i just opened the box. I managed to get them installed again but how did this happen in the first place? I never enabled any encryption! I'm afraid to reboot it again and while it currently works (better in fact it runs faster) the thing is unstable and the lower half of the screen responds oddly probably from my abuse
Serious problem, keeping it simple.

Ok so just updated my maxx to jellybean, then decided to to root. Everything went smoothly so far. Then, I installed "cwm touch" (worked fine) then went ahead and performed a backup. The backup ran and after the phone attempted to boot it comes up "encryption unsuccessful, must perform FDR." I press the reset phone button and it goes to the loading screen and after rebooting I end up back at "encryption unsuccessful" please help!

Maxx HD Encryption Unsuccesful
Sunday 15th of December 2013
Earlier today I was using my phone, and it rebooted on me. When it came back on, it brought up the encryption unsuccessful error. I've searched the internet for a while looking for a fix for it, but couldn't find one. Running on Jellybean, not rooted. Was finally resigned to doing a reset, but when I hit the button nothing happens, it just lets me continuously hit it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking of taking it to the Verizon store, but I'm not sure if they're open on Sunday or if they'd be able to help.

how do I fix my phone encryption unsuccessful
Saturday 31st of May 2014
Hey guys, I have a real problem. My phone just froze up and as soon as I battery pulled and tried to reboot. I get a long message about Encryption unsuccessful and it wants me to factory reset my phone, however I'm custom Romed out and rooted of course, so it won't even let me factory reset. Also it seems that my recovery is no longer allowing me to do anything, flash anything, wipe anything. So I can't get into my phone AT ALL, except for that Encryption Unsuccessful screen. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with that new data policy, you guys are talking about, as it mentioned it in the message. I'm just confused, I only ever use Wi-Fi and my phone is always in airplane mode, I don't even use VM data, yet now my phone is screwed. Anyone else experience this? Is this VMs way of keeping non activated users from being able to use their phones at all?
Encryption unsuccessful not booting
Thursday 03rd of July 2014
I have a Prestigio Mobile Phone running Android 4-2. The phone crashed earlier and I attempted a Re-Boot but now the device wont boot and all I get is a screen saying "Encryption unsuccessful -Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible. To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset . When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account. (and a box) Reset phone" The reset box has no effect!I have looked at previous posts on this topic and unlike the others I have not "romed" the device.
