Best way to >>NOT<< lose data on Factory Reset?!?!

Monday 07th of January 2013 / droidforums.net
When/if the Jelly Bean update (the real one, that is) comes out, I'm going to need to do a couple of factory resets (one to go back to .211 and then another to install JB). I'm super leery of factory resets because the last time I did one (okay, the ONLY time I've done one), I lost a TON of data! I have My Backup Pro, but it didn't save every app's data. I have Backup Assistant Plus, and it worked fine for restoring my contacts, but I haven't been able to do a BAP Media backup since switching to .215, so those aren't really backed up anywhere.Anyway, what I need to know is if there is a sure-fire, reasonably idiot-proof way to back up my data (app data and pics/movies)?I know, it's a rookie's question, but though I'm good with computers, I am a rookie with this stuff!Oh... Razr Maxx, non-rooted (unless installing .215 made me "rooted"), 176 or so apps. Win7 Pro computer.Any and all help GREATLY appreciated!!- Jim 8^}

For those who want the second GB update/patch - Page 4

Almost all of the items you can sync are pics/documents in specific folders (that you have to find and specify), etc.. I don't even know where my apps store all my data files... and I sure don't want to have to specify all of them to try to back them up and then find out I missed half of them. Is there a "backup all user data that will be lost with a factory reset" app? The only one I can find that doesn't require root is MyBackup, and it gets mixed reviews (some of the 1-stars are scary - lost data, etc.):

Factory Reset... Lost App Data

Wednesday 03rd of July 2013 / androidforums.com
I just did a factory reset and I thought if putting my apps on my SD card.. The process of going under app settings and "Move to SD Card" and then "Unmounting SD card" DURING the reset, would save my apps.. Pretty much after the reset I thought plugging my SD card would Re-Install my apps and would indefinetly save my App Game Save Data and the apps that were said to "Move to SD Card"...I just plugged my SD card in and NO DL games were not on it... Idk what to do because I lost valuable Game Saves and will be PISSED if I can recover these. Idk what to do... Please help...Q1.) How can I recover my Game Saves?I backed up my content to Google account but I dont know what was backed up. I Just dont know what to do!!! PLEASE HELP.. :'(

Galaxy Y Wi-Fi, a lost cause? :(

Friday 20th of September 2013 / androidforums.com
Hey.My Galaxy Y is Rooted with Clockworkmod. The Wi-Fi connects, but internet doesn't work. Packet data works fine.I've tried using every type of security and stuff on the Router, but it still doesn't work.It seems that if I factory reset it and reroot it, the wifi works fine.. for like two days. Then it just goes back to not working. What should I do? Should I like.. reset+reroot every two days? By the way, I don't know if this is related or not but I've uninstalled and frozen a bunch of system apps (like messaging; I use another app for it, Samsung Home; I use a launcher, etc.) Could this affect wifi in any way? If so.. why the 2 day-gap between factory reset and wifi-not-working?Also: "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." appears every time I reset. What's going on..?Also.. this is just happening: the Setup Wizard thing crashes and I'm left with nothing but the status bar and a black screen..Please help me guys! :s

Quickpic lost an entire album

Wednesday 04th of June 2014 / droidforums.net
I installed the Quickpic app about 3 months ago without any issues until recently. I created a new album and had about 300 pictures/videos saved in it. As usual I save all my media to my SD card in case of problems with the phone itself. When I finally did end up with and issue with my phone, I did a factory reset without hesitation. When I got my phone back up and running, the entire album that I had created was no longer visible in either my stock album or quickpic once it was re-installed. I have tried everything I can think of from ASTRO file manager to asoftech recovery software. Unfortunately I have not been success on about 25% of my lost album. I did find with ASTRO that I not only have the normal sdcard1, but also TWO sdcard0 locations. My fear is that when quickpic created the new album it transferred all these pictures/videos to the phone itself and they are lost forever.I have tried searches in ASTRO file manager, manual browsing, data recovery with asoftech software(which saved about 75% of the data), connecting my phone to my computer for searches, and am about to the p

I've lost my contact since doing a factory reset on S3

Sunday 09th of November 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi Everyone, I have recently done a factory reset on my S3. I used the super backup app to back up all my contact, messages, bookmarks etc and after i did the reset i then went onto the play store, downloaded the super backup app but there was no option to restore my previous date? Before i did the back up i checked that app was saved to my external sd card which it was. After reading some other posts i then that the file path that all the backup data was on was saved to the internal memory which i believe has been deleted with the factory reset. I have downloaded a few android recovery softwares such as Dr Fone and nothing is being picked up. The most important info that i would like back would be my contacts list. I know i have been foolish in not moving the internal super backup file to the external sd, i can guarantee i wont make that mistake again! If anybody knows of a way that i can get atleast my contacts back then i would really appreciate it, i only ever backed up my data with the super backup app sonever backed up via the cloud, google or samsung.......... foolish i know!

What data is lost when removing gMail account and factory reset?

Thursday 28th of May 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
I'm getting an error message from Google play when trying to download an app its the RPC:S-7:AEC-0 error receiving information from server message. One suggested fix is to remove and reinstall Gmail account. To remove Gmail account, message comes up saying, to remove account you have to use factory reset, which will clear data. What data is affected?
