Galaxy S4 randomly turns itself off and goes into bootloop

Wednesday 16th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I got the phone from 3 UK on a contract in July, so phone's pretty new and not rooted or anything. Yesterday the phone started turning itself off at random times quite a lot. Battery could have been over 60%, at 30%, it was never with the same charge that it would happen, also never when doing the same thing on the phone. Usually when it's about to turn itself off, I lose signal completely, then the screen just goes black. When I try to turn it back on, it usually dies again at the 3 logo or even at the Samsung one and I have to try and turn it back on again. Sometimes I had to pull the battery out and connect it to the charger to make it boot up ok. After a couple of times it did that, it started going into a bootloop when attempting to turn it back on again after the random shutdown. Phone wasn't hot either. It had happened a few days before but just once not this many times in one single day.I removed the microSD card, since it makes the phone think the device has been modified and won't let me update, but the microSD works fine in my old Samsung smartphone and even with that remo

[Galaxy S4 / Sprint] I wanna reformat completely!

Friday 22nd of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
First off I have a Galaxy S4 from Sprint and I completely messed it up. So I tried to root my phone using CyanogenMod and needless to say it completely messed my phone up.All I get is a bootloop and when I tried to THAT I now get a error that says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."Kies hasn't worked! The serial number doesn't even go through and the program doesn't even read my phone. So basically I don't ever wanna mess with this whole rooting thing again and just completely reformat my phone for the better. TLR - I messed up my phone bad and just want it to be normal again. HELP D=

Galaxy S4 Bootloop?!?!?

Saturday 30th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey Guys. I just tried updating my CANADIAN GALAXY S4 to Android 4.3 OTA. I let it install, and then it rebooted. It hasn't reached the homescreen yet. It keeps prompting me "Android Updating - Starting Apps". I get a glimpse of the lockscreen, and then it reboots. This just keeps happening over and over. I attached a video i took to clarify what is happening. Is there any way i can fix this without wiping my whole phone? Or at least back up the stuff? Thanks, Daniel

My Galaxy S4 keeps boot-looping!

Wednesday 15th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey there. I bought my (carrier free) GT-I9505 in late October of last year and things have run fine, until this morning. This morning I was playing Asphalt 8 and the phone suddently went into Boot-loop, with it going blank, vibrating, showing the 'GT-I9505' title, then going back to blank, vibrating, and then again showing the GT I9505 title, repeatedly. I then popped the battery in and out and restarted the phone, and it kept going into Boot-loop still. So I went on Google and saw that this is mostly caused by a disfunctioning battery or microSD card. I took out the microSD card and started the phone and everything worked fine. Then I loaded the SD card again and after a short while the phone started to bootloop again. I went back on Google and one of the suggested solutions included formatting the card. So I did that too and not after a short while the phone went back to bootloop. Then I removed the SD card, popped the battery out and in (it had suddenly dropped to 15% from 20% odd just before) and I shut off the phone and put it to charge. Before it was fully charged I switched i

Questions regarding Galaxy S4 Bootloop

Sunday 19th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey there. I previously posted a thread on my S4 bootlooping and I sent it to the Samsung sponsored store that sold it to me, to have a look at it. The tech guy's immediate deduction was that I have a virus on my phone, despite me having an anti-virus software, which I constantly update and scan with. When I pointed out the swelling on the battery unit, he said it was because of abnormal charging. I showed him my battery doctor app (which had a list of my charging patterns, and I always charge in close to full cycle, i have never received any over-charging warnings and battery status has always been healthy), and then he said it also comes with installing apk's and apps outside the playstore and samsung store. I was told the solution is to reformat the phone and re-install Android 4.2 (stock OS it was shipped with). Now let me point out that in Sri Lanka, alot of tech people turn out to be bull****ters with only one basic solution to any tech problem - 'reformat the device and install an older OS to see if it works'. I just got my phone back after they replaced the battery with a bra

Phone stuck in a bootloop, just keeps saying "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500" repeatedly every 5 seconds

Friday 05th of December 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys... This problem started a couple of weeks ago, where the phone would just shut off sometimes, and then, as long as there is a battery inside, even if I don't press the power button, the phone attempts to turn on, and it shows the "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9500" big white text, and it keeps doing that every 5 seconds but the phone doesn't turn on. If I plug it into the charger, the symbol changes from the Galaxy one, to an empty Battery symbol, with the little loading circle on top of it, but it's a static symbol, and it also keeps disappearing and coming back every 5 seconds. So, at first, I thought it was a Battery issue, so I ordered a couple of new batteries online... Got a new battery, and the new battery didn't work at first, still had the same issue, but after taking it out and putting it back in for like 5 times, it finally worked, and has been good for a couple of weeks. Last night, my phones battery drained and shut off, and I wasn't able to turn the phone back on since, I'm still getting the same issue. I had 2 other new batteries lying around, tried both of
