Samsung May Go With Qualcomm Chips in Galaxy S4 Instead of the Octa – Droid Life

Wednesday 20th of February 2013 /
According to Korean media outlet Digital Times, Samsung may have to use a different processor in the Galaxy S4 other than the Exynos Octa processor that was unveiled during CES. Instead, they could use one of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon processors, which wouldn’t be surprising after the benchmark we saw for the Samsung SCH-I545, a device that could be Verizon’s version of the GS4. The processor listed in that benchmark was a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, the same beast that resides in the new HTC One. By no means would this be some sort of a disappointment, you just wouldn’t be able to run around bragging to friends that your phone has a faux octa-core processor. This report claims that the Octa is having power consumption issues that may not be resolved in time. All is rumor or speculation until it becomes official.Via:  Digital Times

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Will Be the First Device to have ROAM Integration

Monday 25th of February 2013 /
Last night, or early this morning depending on where you are in the world, it was confirmed that the Galaxy S4 is being announced and unveiled on March 14th in New York City. Now we are hearing more and more about new features for the Galaxy S4, one is the new ROAM Integration agreement that Samsung and Visa now has. It’ll be very similar to Google Wallet and ISIS. So it’s pretty likely that the carriers here in the US will block it, unfortunately. That would be because they are pushing ISIS, except for Sprint. The big difference with ROAM is that the APIs banks and merchants will use for accepting payments will come from Visa, and will supposedly offer higher security than what Google Wallet and ISIS has. Samsung’s newest Galaxy S phone will have NFC-enabled payments through ROAM alongside Visa’s NFC software and PayWave application. With Samsung expecting to sell around 100 million of these devices, that’ll put NFC payments in a lot of hands. Hopefully that can make NFC payments more main stream than it is today. According to Visa, they have been in tal

UK Samsung Galaxy S4 will pack the Quad-Core Snapdragon 600 CPU not the Exynos 5 Octa-core model

Thursday 21st of March 2013 /
The Samsung Galaxy S4 that will be launched in April in UK will be released with the 1.9 GHz 4-core Snapdragon 600 and not the 8-core Exynos 5 CPU clocked at 1.6 Ghz. All that this means is that the phone will pack the 4G LTE chip. There aren’t any other differences between the other smartphone hardware parts.Since the 4G LTE networks are rapidly growing and launched all over the world, we will surely see that other countries will be given the four-core Galaxy S4 instead of the eight core ones. However, the phones will run almost exactly the same since no matter which CPU models are packed.  We will shortly post a new article that contains more info about which SGS4 model each country will receive the next month. Since the device uses a different processor we will also see that the build number used is the I9505 instead of I9500.Omio were the first ones to report this and it seems like they got a response from Samsung that the UK Galaxy S4 will feature the 4-core 1.9 GHz CPU because of the 4G LTE chip. As you know the 4G network is not supported on Exynos processors and that

Google edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 wont receive updates directly from Google

Wednesday 26th of June 2013 /
Well, this shaves off a little of the joy.both devices are running kernels supplied by their respective OEMs, meaning neither the HTC One or the Galaxy S4 Google Editions will see updates directly from Google. The Verge was also able to corroborate this information. Google Play edition HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 wont receive updates directly from Google

Samsung Galaxy S4 Is Apparently The "Most Loved" Handset, iPhone 5 The "Most Hated"

Friday 05th of July 2013 /
The Daily Mail has reported on a study by We Are Social which has examined Twitter, blogs, and forums following the flagship launches of the four major smartphone platforms: the Samsung Galaxy S4, Blackberry Z10, Nokia Lumia 920 and of course, the iPhone 5. The study takes a look at the conversations regarding these 4 phones after their release, including both complaints, discussions about new features, and general brand appeal. While the article actually focusses mostly on the iPhone 5′s successes and failures, there can be some information about the Galaxy S4′s reception to be gleaned. Namely, that 56% of the conversations regarding the Galaxy S4 were discussion the new and different features of the phone, which I guess is to be expected considering that the Galaxy S4 is the latest phone to suffer Samsung-Featuritis. Of note is also the fact that only 11% of comments about Samsung have been made with a negative connotation, lower than the three other manufacturers. However, while 20% of comments about the iPhone 5 were negative, Apple still does apparently retain the h

Galaxy S4 won't add the apostrophe

Sunday 29th of September 2013 /
Hello,I just purchased the Galaxy S4. I've noticed that I have to actually type the apostrophe, or choose the correct spelling from the suggested options. With the S2 I just upgraded from, the apostrophe was always automatically inserted into the word. I've done a little reading, but haven't found a helpful solution. I've seen the Swiftkey 3 app (I think that's what it's called) suggested, but that didn't seem to solve the problem.Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
