Transfer data, contacts, photos, messages, music from iphone to S4

Saturday 27th of April 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Just upgraded from the iphone to the Galaxy S4. The worst part is getting use to a new operating system. For all of those iphone users pulling our hair out for transferring here is the easiest way to transfer the info from your iphone to your galaxy. First download and install the kie from the samsung website. This is basically like the itunes interface you would use to sync your iphone to the computer. Next plug in your old iphone to the computer and open itunes. Create a new back up of your device. Finally plug in you new galaxy into your computer and the samsung kies program should open. It should automatically detect the iphone backup files on your computer and ask if you want to transfer them to your phone. Select the backup file that corresponds to your iphone you want to transfer, we have four iphones/ipods in the house. Then select which things you want to transfer and go. Then you should be set. You can transfer music (not drm protected), photos, messages, videos, and podcasts. I don't know why this information is not more readily available since so many people will be swit

Getting old messages back

Thursday 11th of April 2013 / androidforums.com
Hey guys, I'm new here, just to say hey I'm having a problem receiving long messages from friends. When my best friend tries to send me a long message, my Droid receives a message she sent from months ago, with a little snip from the new message she's trying to send at the bottom. I've cleared our conversation, those messages are gone, but they still keep getting sent to me.Can someone please help? Much appreciated, thanks

Still got error message.Tried soft reset. Still got error message.Moved contacts to SD card. still got error message, then blank screen for messages. Now, all old text messages gone! (yes, I hang on to some threads way too long, but that's never been a problem before). I would like to get the old messages back so I can delete the unnecessary ones. Getting replacement S3: how to speed transition/setup. Often overlook things to do?

Friday 26th of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I'm getting a refurb replacement S3. Before I wipe my old phone, what are often overlooked things to do? I have the impression it's not as easy as iTunes backup & restore. My phone is NOT rooted and the old one is being returned to the carrier and I'm not interested in rooting the old or new one. Are they any backup /restore apps that don't require root? Are there settings or things I should try to preserve (or at lease screen shot)? I used ShareMyApps to generate a list of all the apps on my phone. I screen shotted my home screens, and settings for some key apps. All my contacts are safetly in gmail. I'm not worried about my text messages. In Settings | Backup and reset, I checked "backup my data" and "automatic restore". Does this mean that all the settings for all my apps come back? I have a dialing widget so I'm going to see if I can by chance copy that folder of data to see if it might preserve my setup. I did backup my photos. Any other thoughts? Many thanks and wish me luck! Mike

Getting back Old WhatsApp backup

Tuesday 13th of May 2014 / androidforums.com
Yesterday(12-05-2014) i accidentally cleared all my conversations. I have an old backup in microSD card which is dated to (05-05-2014) which unfortunately is 7 days older than current backup. I went through the help and followed the steps to get the recent backup(05-05-2014).1. I uninstalled WhatsApp2. Renamed the file msgstore-2014-05-05.1.db.crypt5" to "msgstore.db.crypt5"3. Copied the backup file (msgstore.db.crypt5) with me and pasted it in WhatsApp/Database folder4. Downloaded and Installed WhatsApp from Google Play5. When asked to restore the message, I selected Restore.Still i could not get any backup of messages and all the chat history is gone :/Kindly help and reply what should be done as there are many important messages. Hoping for a quick reply !

Warranty claim denied - options?

Saturday 08th of November 2014 / androidforums.com
I purchased a new Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T 10 months ago. A few months back I started getting error messages saying that my SIM card was not recognized. The phone also started rebooting itself over and over- several times per day. My local AT&T store replaced the SIM card but that didn't work, they figured it was the SIM card holder. My research has shown that numerous other people have experienced this issue. After a bit of back and forth I got a warranty exchange from AT&T and I sent my old phone back. Two weeks later my old phone comes back with a note saying it was rejected because of a "broken display, LCD or lens". While there is an area where the coloring flaked off the back of the glass, the display isn't broken or cracked. In my opinion this is totally bogus. I'm now going to be charged $469 for a new phone and I don't have the option to send the replacement back. I knew there was a risk that they may reject my old phone but I really didn't have an option - my old one just wasn't functional at all! Either way I needed a new phone. So my question is, h
