No matter how powerful Android Phones get, the Hardware means nothing !!!! - Page 5

I work for a company QA'ing software on mobile devies, so I actually have 8 blackberry's, 6 WM phones, 2 Iphones, and an iPad and recently picked up couple of android phones.. I was surprised reading this as recently I was going through the market and I found all the apps I used on the iphone... also to my surprise some of the apps actually had more functionality on the android than their iPhone counter parts... I will say that I do not tend to try editing images or video on a phone... I find it much easier to send pics or video from my phone to my computer and do any editing on my laptop. So have not really looked at that sort of app... I don't really use many of the toy type apps like making faces or flipping open a fake lighter... I do play a few games and did find some of the games, I had demo copies of on ios, full version on android for free(with ads). I am a free addict, I don't tend to buy apps and this may be where there is a difference in my use as well... So all that to say in the free app (excluding toy apps) market I found android to be very competitive and personally, f

I was given one of these tablets for free and would like to give it to my 3 year old son for part of his Christmas. I tried to download Angry Birds which is his favorite game on my phone but the market place will not connect. It appears from other threads I may have the wrong marketplace. I would really appreciate anyones help on how to fix the issue. All I want the tablet to do is play Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and a few other games. I may try to get some Thomas the Train videos on there as well. It would be great if Netflix would work as well but from what I am reading on this device I am thinking that probably will not happen. Any help is appreciated.Keith
Now I feel stupid
Wednesday 09th of May 2012
I have worked with computers for many years (learned on DOS). When I retired I purchased a smart phone with an android system and loved it so much I got a tablet recently. Mainly because the games etc I played on the phone kept running the battery down and the little screen is not big enough for my old eyes. However now I am feeling really stupid, trying to find and download apps/games for the tablet. I know how to get an app sent to my computer and/or my phone but there is no phone number associated with the tablet. One site (amazon) even asked for my cell number. I do not want the app sent to my cell but to my tablet.???? any thoughts? Can I purchase or download a free app on my computer then transfer it to the tablet? It came with cables to hook up to the computer.
just popped HTC EVO cherry. Now tell me some important/fun stuff!

No "Check Update" under about phone?
Thursday 13th of October 2011
This may have been covered before but after a few hours of surfing google I have still not come to a concrete answer to my problem. I have had an HTC Hero, Samsung Nexus S and a few other smart phones I've played with yet my new Samsung Galaxy S II seems to be missing something and I'm confused. Why is there no "Check Update" from the about phone menu on it? My other Phones had it which was great when I had no internet and no PC I could still update my phone over the network. All I've come across so far is something about Kies and Odin but I don't want to root my phone as I have not seen what the benefits would do since an unrooted phone can play free games and still be able to load custom roms, in any case I was wondering if I made a mistake getting rid of my Nexus S phone for Galaxy S II since I feel like an idiot as I can't even figure out how to update my phone to the latest offcial firmware.Just read on a few other providers with the same phone such as vodaphone they have instructions on how to update by doing the following. "Get your phone to check for the update
How I Got My Galaxy S4 To Be Completely Lag / Stutter Free
Wednesday 28th of August 2013
I just wanted to share this with the community. I make absolutely no guarantees on how well this will work for you, but this is what worked for me and I hope that it might be able to help you as well! Backlog: I picked up my GS4 about 3-4 weeks ago and had been experience the typical lag and stuttering issues during page switches, app switches, and quite a bit of noticeable lag in my games (Hill Climb most notably). I scoured the internet looking for ways to alleviate the problem but was never able to completely get rid of the lag or stutters that this device seems to suffer from. One of the most frustrating parts about reading the other fixes online all had to do with disabling all of the cool effects and animations a phone of this caliber should be able to slice right through. The fix that I found, and works for me, doesn't make you sacrifice the phones awesomeness for stutter free operation. After making a few tweaks in the Developer Options as well as changing or disabling some effects, I can now say that my phone is completely lag and stutter free. I haven't had an animation

TB doesn't have option to move apps to SD?? Storage space problem...
Thursday 30th of January 2014
Ok so I rooted my phone and installed SuperUser and Titanium Backup (paid version). My main reason was to free up some space and I still have that problem. Nothing I do seems to fix it. I clear the cache almost daily, am using just a few apps and have deleted anything that would actually make the phone any fun (like cool widgets or useful yet non-basic apps. I have no games on it. I have googled "how to move apps to SD with Titanium Backup" dozens of times in the past month and read that it's under "batch options" a thousand times. However, for the life of me I can NOT see an option under the 4th section "Move/Integrate" for anything remotely related to MOVING APPS TO SD. The only thing it shows on that category is "Integrate updates of system apps into ROM". I have a huge external SD plugged in where ALL my pictures, screenshots, downloads, music and videos are stored. The external SD is not even half full. Yet, my 4.44GB internal memory is filled nearly to capacity with only 274MB free. I constantly get the STORAGE SPACE RUNNING LOW message a
Post Your Experience: Will A New Tablet Get Used/w [HTC One M7] for Hotspot?
Wednesday 04th of June 2014
I have the HTC One M7. Not fond of how locked down it is, the overheating and poor battery/charging, etc. I digress. I want a true-to-Android device that can be unlocked, rooted and customized with different kernels and ROMs, etc. (Is that less common /w tablets versus phones?) I have with plenty of minutes and about 2G of data for myself. Enough that I wouldn't increase the plan size if I added a tablet.. right? I use very little data on my phone, and assume on a tablet as Wi-Fi is typically available. I can't see myself having a tablet unless it has at least some mobile access though. Or do you use yours mostly at home..? (Where I have a laptop though..) I want to hear how your experience has been. Are you happy with it; does the tablet get much use? Do you use a new(ish) smartphone and have a laptop, yet still choose a tablet for some things? Pros and cons please, with explanations Feel free to make recommendations. I think I want 10 inches. My phone is 5 already. I'd mostly use my tablet for easier browsing, reading, communication (hotspot/wifi = Google Voice/Hangouts) ..Games
