Leaving CDMA - Straight Talk or Simple Mobile?

Tuesday 30th of October 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi Guys, I figure some of you guys may have experience with GSM carriers as I've been on Sprint for what seems like forever. I'm finally ready to bail and make the jump to unlocked phones. Both Straight Talk and Simple Mobile have good coverage for me (Los Angeles/Pasadena area) so it's not about that I guess. A few questions... - Since Straight Talk takes advantage of either the At&t or T-Mobile networks and is $5 cheaper per month, shouldn't I go just go with them or is there something I'm missing?- ST isn't exactly up front with how much data is allowed though but I haven't ever really gone over 2GB so I think I'm fine if that's the limit. Anyone run into any issues of getting cut off/throttled?- SM says unlimited but again, who really knows how much data is allowed or if you are throttled. Anyone have experiences with that?- Is it as simple as 42.2Mbps with SM and then 21Mbps with ST? Thanks guys...looking forward to jumping ship.

how to flash back to my 2.1 image after 2.2d

Thursday 02nd of September 2010 / androidforums.com
please forgive my newbieness in the rooting area.I finaly decided to root via easy root and everything worked just fine, I used clockwork recovery to create an image on my sd card. then I kept getting the message every few minutes for the froyo update.after doing some reading most people thought that it was ok to let it try and update in order to get rid of the annoying update available message. it was thought that clockwork would block the update on the reboot.not so, 2.2 did sucessfully install and of course I lost root.I tried to "re root" using easy root but it will not accept my code, and I see on therir webpage that 2.2d is not supported yetI need to know how to flash back to the image I have on my sd card as I can't take the slow, buggy 2.2d any longer. Thanks,Andy

Droid Bionic for Straight Talk-Verizon???

Tuesday 26th of March 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, be patient with me, because I'm not a techie or anything. I just like a phone that looks good, is comfortable to hold and operate, is 4G capable, and has good battery life. That's simple enough. Here's my great quandary and heartache: I currently have an HTC Inspire, an AT&T phone, which I was using on the Straight Talk network. Well, I moved from the city to the country (pretty much), and the only carrier or towers that work out here on the Straight Talk netword is Verizon. Great. I always thought Verizon was a money-sucking vampire, but it's my only option now. So, I decided to get a Droid Bionic to use on Verizon's no-contract plan, a real upgrade from my Inspire which I loved, but then a Verizon representative told me that I can't get on their no-contract plan unless I have had a contract with them for at least six months. Vampires! So, it looks like my only choice now is to buy one of Straight Talk's Verizon phones which are either downgrades from my Inspire or cost about a half an arm and a half a leg. I'm not a millionaire yet, people! I don't want to trade my wallet

Are new SIMS required to get LTE on Straight Talk or Net10?

Thursday 10th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
If one upgrades to an LTE-enabled phone for an existing account on either Net10 or Straight Talk, do you have to get a new SIM card to get the new LTE service?

MMS Picture messaging to people on Sprint and TracFone ATT plans(straight talk or NET10)

Thursday 26th of March 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have had an issue ever since I switched to cricket last month that whenever I send a picture to someone on Sprint or a TracFone AT&T plan(Straight Talk or NET10) it will show on their phone that they received it 27 hrs earlier(28 hrs before DST started) I.E. if i send my friend a picture now( it is 13:41 26.Mar 2015) they will have to scroll back all the texting we have done to Yesterday 25.Mar 2015 at 10:42AM in order to see the picture. It seems to be something with Cricket or the provisioning on my line since I can put the SIM in the cricket branded Lumia 635 and have the same issue. This has become very frustrating as I have spent countless hours on the phone with their support and opened 2 different cases that were supposed to be sent to their technical team and never hear anything back and they close the cases. My question is if anyone else on cricket is having this same problem or can they try and replicate to see if they have the same trouble.
