Samsung just recently rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 a new Ice Cream Sandwich update known to the community as the XWLPD build. For those of you who have just flashed the recent firmware, you may already know that flashing official ROMs such as the XWLPD firmware will mean losing your root privileges.Luckily for Galaxy S2 owners, XDA Developers member Chainfire has already made an exploit that will allow you to root your phone, as well as install ClockworkMod Recovery using the CF-Root Kernel. The kernel is fully stock and is primarily based on the original firmware, with some added features. The CF-Root Kernel has root access, BusyBox 1.16.2, and ClockworkMod Recovery.Learn more about rooting and installing this modified kernel by checking our step-by-step guide below.WarningThe instructions in this guide are intended for use with the Samsung Galaxy S2, model number GT-I9100. Samsung Galaxy S2 Has Gorilla Glass
Tuesday 03rd of May 2011
The first phone I ever used with Gorilla Glass was the original Motorola Droid and boy did I love that phone until it was accidentally abandoned at Phandroid Live. Gorilla Glass is an ultra sturdy glass that is pretty much impossible to break… unless you’re this guy (We forgive you, buddy). If the Samsung Galaxy S2 is on your “S2 Do List” and you’re on the clumsy side of the spectrum you’ll be happy to know that it too has Gorilla glass. This is pretty impressive when considering how slim the Galaxy S2 is and Corning – makers of Gorilla Glass – explain how its possible:Gorilla Glass is a thin-and light-weight material which supports the seamless full-glass fronts of the most sophisticated device designs. Because it is strengthened at the molecular level, its ability to resist damage creates a performance advantage over other cover materials. The original Galaxy S devices and Galaxy Tab had Gorilla Glass as well. In my opinion, the more phones with Gorilla Glass the better, especially since I don’t keep my phone in a case. Nope…

How to flash the JellyBam ROM for the Galaxy S3 I9300
Tuesday 27th of November 2012
Sometimes, when we find a ROM that just works for us, it's a little painful to move on to a new Android device and find that the ROM we've depended on for so long isn't available for our new phone. If you enjoyed the JellyBam ROM on your Galaxy S2 I9100, then you'll be happy to know that you can enjoy the same ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, thanks to XDA Developers member iGio90.Unfortunately, not all the original Galaxy S2 features have been ported to the Galaxy S3 version of the ROM, but the important ones are there. iGio90′s definitely porting all the features from the Galaxy S2 ROM to this one. If this is the first time you've heard of the ROM, let's just say that this is what happens when AOKP, CyanogenMod 10, and ParanoidAndroid are all dumped into a blender and pulsed until smooth and creamy. It has the latest CyanogenMod 10/AOKP patched kernel, a lockscreen with 8 custom app targets, Bravia engine libraries, Bravia XLoud audio libraries, ParanoidAndroid settings, Per-App DPI changer, a themed Apollo Music Player, and a whole lot more
Samsung Galaxy S2 Upgraded To 1.2 GHz, Releasing That Power In April
Thursday 07th of April 2011
The Samsung Galaxy S2 Will Be A MonsterYou know it, I know, even your local crazy old technophobe knows it. It seems though that Samsung thinks a 1 GHz processor is not good enough. Gsmarena have reported that the companies Estonian office confirmed through there Facebook page that the dual core processor will run at a 1.2 GHz clock speed. A welcome speed bump I think we can all agree. Not SurprisingIt’s not a surprising move really. With nVidias Tegra2 processors being the processor of choice at the moment and with Qualcomms new processor looking to be a beast, it only makes sense that Samsung try and give themselves a better selling point for their new Exynos dual core processors. Saying it runs at 1.2 GHz while your rivals runs at 1.0 GHz doesn’t do you any harm. How this effects the Tegra2 equipped Samsung Galaxy S2 phones is unclear though. Will they receive a speed boost or be left in their original state? So what do you think? Does it make the phone more tempting? You might be even more tempted when I tell you Samsung will be releasing it this month thanks to a tweet
Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100: Removing Cyanogen? What is flash?
Monday 29th of October 2012
Hey all, So I recently seemed to purchase an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S2 that is unlocked. (Rooted to be unlocked over any network-- I live in Canada, by the way.) The unlocked phone seems to have the Cyanogenmod root on it. Is there a way to remove Cyanogen and have it to the normal Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system (still keeping in mind that the unlock is still in effect in the phone even if Cyanogen is removed.) I've heard to use a program called ODIN and to "flash" back to the original state however, what does flash even mean and how do you flash? Where do I download Odin and can anyone specifically outline the procedures I must take in order to have Ice Cream sandwich again? I am very confused, any help is appreciated. SIDE NOTE: Does anybody know when Jellybean is coming out for S2?
Very narrow video Camera angle since Jelly Bean upgrade on Galaxy S2
Monday 26th of August 2013
After updating to Jelly Bean my Samsung Galaxy S2 has a very narrow video angle. The still camera is ok but Video frame is like quarter size of the still photo frame. So everything is like zoomed in (enlarged) so you actually need to be quite far from your object in order to record any video.I checked all the options, there is no special effect or zoom set up, reset all the settings. I am really surprised I could't find the issue online as my wife has the same phone and the same thing happened to her. Not sure how to fix it as this is native Galaxy app. I know I can download alternative apps (btw. they work correct so it is software, not hardware issue) but the original app is quite intuitive and ad free and besides, there is surely something wrong with it so it needs fixing somehow. Thanks for any tips or help.
