User can't download my app after Google Market Update
Monday 05th of September 2011
I have a user that is trying to download my app from a Samsung Vibrant running 2.2. But when she gets to the app page in the android market, there is no download button there for her to download! What's weird is once she resets her phone back to factory setting, she was able to download the app, but once the phone is automatically upgraded by Android, my app no longer is available for download again! Have others encountered similar problem? I have been searching the web for similar issues, but am surprised to not be able to find it. Seems like a pretty major problem! Some more background - my app does require 2.2 (which she has), permission wise, my app only require the following: NETWORK COMMUNICATION - FULL INTERNET ACCESSPHONE CALLS - READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITYHardware controls - control vibratorNetwork communication - view network stateAny help is appreciated!

I'm having a couple of issues here.1- I have to re-flash my ROM. I can do that with nandroid but when I want to re-load my contacts the only way I can get them back (that I know of) is do a restore from a backup. That puts me right back where I was, with a damaged ROM.1.1- Is there anything I can use to do the backup that will allow me to re-load only my contacts onto a new ROM? Perhaps some way of exporting the contacts file, editing it in a spread sheet (or some such) and re-loading it into a new ROM after the flash?2- I had a copy of ROM Manager in my phone. It's gone somewhere. I'd like to get another copy but it seems to have vanished from the net. No link that I can find (no, not on Market or AppBrain) will actually point to the app. It only gets the licence add on and I still have that on my phone.Any assistance is appreciated.
applications - How do i find apps which weren't installed from Android Market
Sunday 20th of January 2013
The Sky Go application will not work for me because it thinks my Samsung Galaxy Nexus is rooted even though I have never rooted it.According to the Sky customer service agent I chatted to, this can be because of apps on the phone which weren't installed from the Android Market/Google Play.I know that I have manually installed an apk or two in the past, but I am not sure which apps still on the phone (if any) were installed manually. So, how can I tell which apps on phone were installed manually and which were installed from the Android Market/Google Play? Amusingly, the only app I can remember installing manually was the Sky Go app, when it wasn't available to download for Galaxy Nexus phones. It didn't work however, and I removed it.
installation - Why can't I download apps from the Android Market via my PC?
Wednesday 19th of October 2011
I was trying to find a free french dictionary for android, and indeed I found many. But I can't download them. The problem is, I don't have access to the internet right now from my cell phone, and what I want to do, is to simply download the application to my computer (where I have access to the internet) and then transfer the installation package to my cell phone, and then install it.Is it a wrong expectation? Is it an unusual practice for installing applications on mobile devices? However, every application either wants me to directly connect to the internet and android market to download the application, or to use my cell phone to download it. Why it is so? What is the philosophy behind it?

applications - How can I tell the Android Market that I'm running an updated version of Android?
Monday 21st of March 2011
Possible Duplicate: Why are some apps on the market incompatible with my device? My phone (Orange San Francisco) came with Android 2.1 and has not been officially updated in the UK so I'm now running a nightly beta of Cyanogen 7 (Android 2.3.3) which works pretty well. I'm trying to install an app from the Android Market that requires 2.2 (Froyo) and up but the Market insists that the app is incompatible with my phone and greys it out in the install dialog box. Is it possible to either update the Market with my details (couldn't find this option in 'My Market Account' settings) or to spoof another phone/android version so that I can download apps?

Whether looking to shake things up a bit, or help file your taxes there are plenty of application options available in the Android market. Lucky for you we take the time to check them out and see what's best, so let's hit the break and check out some of our favorites.Anndrew Vacca - TurboTax SnapTax (Free)I hate going to a brick-and-mortar to prepare my taxes-- I find the whole process to be pretty stressful. I also hate filing my taxes online, as it always proves to be both tedious and time consuming. What is a person like me to do? Thanks to TurboTax, I can file my taxes straight from my phone, no appointment required. No, I'm not TurboTax's latest paid representative-- I actually really love this app.Snap a picture of your W2s, answer a few questions, and file both federal and state taxes for a reasonable $19.99. Simple as that. You'll need to have fairly simple finances: all income must be from a W2, interest, or unemployment, you can't have dependents, and you can't own your own home or property. If your taxes are any more complicated than that, you&
Can't get into Clockworkmod recovery on LG Optimus 2x
Friday 13th of April 2012
I flashed a MoDaCo ROM this afternoon just to try it on my LG Optimus 2x P990, which was on ICS (CM9). I see that it's based on the offical LG Optimus 2x ROM, but I decided to flash it back to Android 4.0.4 ICS again, the one I was coming from. But I can't get into ClockworkMod Recovery. I didn't find ROM Manager on my phone after flash (it works, except for Market and has very many bugs), so I reinstalled it by sending the *.apk to my email. I installed CWM successfully, but I can't get into it. I have tried the volume and power button method and reboot from ROM Manager. None of them worked. My phone does works (call and such), but I can't get into CWM, which is really annoying.
Apps not in Market / Unsecured Fingerprint
Wednesday 06th of October 2010
Has anyone found an answer to the problem where known apps do not appear in the market? I've scanned several QR codes today with no results. There is a nice discussion of the issue here:The Pirates Den - Can't Find Android Apps In The MarketIt basically says that my phone is considered "unsecure" or is otherwise unable to convey a proper fingerprint to the market.I occasionally had this problem on BBv4, but it seems much worse on BBv5. My understanding of this is still limited. Is this something that could be fixed in the next BB release (please, Pete, please if you can)? Is this entirely device specific, and not able to be managed from the ROM? Will modifying my build.prop do it (I didn't want to do this unless I know it would work)?Given that I've rooted my phone, I don't expect much help from Verizon, and while I could reach out to every developer as I determine I can't find their copy protected apps, I don't expect a high success rate here. I don't think google is going to remove copy protection from Chrome to Phone, for example. I can't even get App Brain from
