Nexus 10 4.2.2 update error

Thursday 14th of February 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
OK first of all sorry for posting a new thread but this is very important. I just received the update ota but I still can't install it. Why? Here's what's happening:1. The update downloads and asks me to reboot and install2. It reboots and starts installing3. At about 1/4 of the install metre the nexus 10 sort of crashes and shows me an android with a red exclamation mark while saying Error in the bottom. If I reboot it returns to the same exclation mark and the only way for me to boot it well is to start pressing the power button repeatedly until I see the X logo. Also recovery mode seems to have a problem after the update. This is what happens:1. Boot it in recovery mode (or whatever it's called) by holding the power button and the volume up and down at the same time.2. Choose recovery boot from those 4 options you have.3. It shows no command instead of opening recovery mode like it used to. Any help would be appreciated. Sry for my bad English. Imp. things to note :1. My nexus 10 is rooted.2. I can use it fine its just that I can't update.3. I've tried updating it for three times a

Nexus 4 wont update google products

Friday 07th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi!i made a topic about this in the Nexus 4 segment, but i figured there's only a certain number of people who go there so im posting this here, where more people watch this.Ok so the problemI can't update the Google play music or Google search apps on my phone, when i try to update them, it gives me the "Package file was not signed correctly" error. i was told to uninstall the updates and then try it again, but there are no updates applied, so i can't remove them.i'm kinda ok with the play music app being that way, but when i try to search something by voice, it says "i didnt catch that, try again".I'm running 4.2.1 on the Nexus 4, and it also wont update to 4.2.2

Nexus 4 Completely Disappears From Carphone Warehouse

Thursday 04th of July 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
Looking to pick up a Nexus 4 in the UK? Well, you have one fewer option today. Carphone Warehouse, one of the largest online mobile retailers in the UK, has removed the Nexus 4 from the site. There isn't even an 'out of stock' notice – it's just gone. The Nexus 4 is getting on on toward late middle age now, and the limited edition white Nexus 4 was just discontinued yesterday. Carphone Warehouse is far from the only retailer selling the Nexus 4, but it was one of the first to list the device, and continued to have stock intermittently as Google itself struggled to process orders. We've reached out to Carphone Warehouse to see if the N4 is truly gone, or if this is some sort of error. We'll update if we hear anything back, but this might be the beginning of the end for the Nexus 4.[Carphone Warehouse] Tags:carphone warehousenexus 4

Nexus 4 stuck after 4.3 update fail - even after hard reset

Saturday 27th of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey guys, Ok, I tried to read so many posts since yesterday, can't find a solution. This is my last resort (and first post) before sending my phone back. I have a Nexus 4, 2 months old, unrooted and nothing done to it.Yesterday evening, 4.3 is pushed to my phone. I download it (OTA), and at the end of the installation, I get an error screen and it restarts installing. It loops like that 3-4 times (installing-error-installing-...) then it turns off. I switch it back on, and it just doesn't go past the X logo (yes I left it a long time to see). After a while, I just decide to do a hard reset. My data is on the cloud anyway. I go to recovery mode, wipe to factory status, reboot.... nope, still stuck on X logo. Now my main problem here, is that I saw a few suggestions on the forum.. BUT, I don't have USB debugging mode enabled since I've never rooted/done anything to my phone, and now I can't enable it since it won't go past the logo. When I connect my phone to the PC (win 7), I don't see it appear in my connected devices. Any final suggestions? Is it hopeless? Thanks guys.

nexus 7 4.3? update error

Sunday 20th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
So I got the nexus 7 2013 about a month ago and ever since about 2 weeks ago, I keep getting the notification of a new 4.3 update even though I already have android 4.3. It says it's downloaded and verified but when I go and install it, the android man with the red ball of doom appears and I get an error. The notification disappears after I force it to restart but after about 2 days, it appears again with the same scenario and is very frustrating since the notification is always there and I'm just concerned whether I can get the 4.3 update when it's released. I'm currently on build JWR66N.

4.4 sideload aborted -- books.apk unexplained contents

Monday 25th of November 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi all. I'm running a rooted Nexus 4, I'm not a power user. I rooted to get rid of bloat and to control CPU for battery savings. When the OTA 4.4 update came to my phone, I got an error on installation I guess because I'm rooter. Now I am trying to sideload KK and getting close but getting "E:error in /tmp/update.zip; Status 7; installation aborted system/app/books.apk has unexpected contents" error message.I thought the download might be corrupted, so I downloaded a second time and get the same result. Can anyone help? This is really frustrating and disappointing as I want 4.4.Thanks!

Nexus 4 4.4 update error

Tuesday 26th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Just turned on phone and the phone decided to update itself to android 4.4 without permission. It then rebooted and nothing showed up except from notification bar, navigation bar and power menu. The rest was black. I then restarted it. It was stuck in the bootloop, this same applied every time I restarted it. Then I went on the boot loader and it works except when going on recovery mode, it says no command with the android man with error. I can't put a custom ROM on since it is locked and I can't unlock it since it requires USB debugging enabled but I cannot get onto that. Any one know how to fix it without getting warranty to fix it? Sent from my Nexus 7 using AC Forums mobile app

Android 4.4 to 4.4.2

Sunday 22nd of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Just to clarify, I have a Unrooted Nexus 7 that I wish to keep that way. Well I am getting the Error message like so many others. I have performed a reset (thru settings) and a hard reset too (to no avail). I contacted Google support about this problem and surprisingly they have not heard about the issue (uh huh). They had me perform the hard reset and I told them the result (Error). Well their suggestion was to transfer me to ASUS Support. Well they were surprised that Google woulld transfer me to them. Well their solution was for me to send my Nexus 7 to them and they would let me know whether they could fix the problem (and what the cost would be) or just send it back to me. I decided to keep it and wait for someone smarter than myself to figure out what the solution is. One thing i've noticed is when it downloads the 4.4.2 file it is only 38.7 mb. I thought the update was bigger (could this be the problem)?
