Google just announced Google Maps Navigation for Android 2.0 that'll offer users free turn-by-turn navigation. You heard that right. Google Maps. Free Turn-By-Turn Navigation. Android 2.0. Google Maps Navigation has everything you'd expect to find in a GPS application--3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance, and automatic rerouting--but also adds compelling new features that's 'built from the ground up to take advantage of your phone's Internet connection'. Google lists seven features that are possible because Google Maps Navigation is connected to the Internet:Always have the most recent maps and business dataSearch with the power of Google (no need to know exact address, Google can do the legwork)Search by voiceLive traffic data just like you see in the current Google Maps with real-time informationSearch along route allows you to search for results that won't take you far from your routeSatellite View -- high resolution, 3D view of your routeStreet View -- you'll be able to see where you need to turn, what your final address is, etcThis is big for Google Maps and even bigger for A
No voice directions in Google Maps
Monday 18th of July 2011
I haven't used Google Maps in awhile but this weekend I used it traveling somewhere. I noticed that I no longer get the voice directions. Yes it is un-muted and the volume is turned up. Instead of getting voice directions, I get a beep chime and half a mile before the turn. Anyone else experiencing this?

No Voice in Google Navigation on Fascinate
Wednesday 12th of January 2011
I got a fascinate recently and downloaded the Google maps which comes with Google Navigation. When I use it...it starts navigation but there is no voice. when I was at the vzw store the other droids have voice giving turn by turn directions.I searched on Google but haven't found any post related to this. I found people having problem having the nav volume low but nobody with altogether "no voice" issue. Did I get a lemon? or am I missing some software some where. I looked and I have PicoTts.apk and TtsService.apk but when I see in Text to speech services it does not show me any "Engines" as it shows me on wife's incredible. The dumb guy at vzw store told me that fascinate does not support voice for Google nav as it supports VZ Navigator. Please guide me how can I get the voice with google Nav and if its my particular phone then I still have time to go and exchange it.
Google Maps navigation - won't talk anymore?
Friday 21st of March 2014
I haven't used my Google maps for a few months. Today, it found my destination and worked flawlessly EXCEPT I could not get it to narrate the directions. I had my volume all the way up (all 4 options: Music, video games and other media; ringtone; notifications; system) Within the app, I clicked the Options (3 squares in lower right corner) and the only option for voice said "Mute voice guidance". So I clicked that to change to "Unmute" and then clicked again to return to "mute". No dice. Are there any other settings I can change to get my turn-by-turn navigation spoken again?
No Voice Directions Using Google Maps?
Thursday 18th of December 2014
My S5 has an annoying problem that I cannot figure out to save my life. Now happening all the time, I will say "OK Google" and the sound it normally makes (a bong) doesn't happen but the directive works fine. Also, when I start the navigation in Google Maps, the voice directions don't work but the navigation works fine. This happens while at home and in the car so it's not a Bluetooth problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Please help!!!
Google maps issues on Galaxy s4
Wednesday 31st of December 2014
I was using Google maps pretty frequently with no issues until recently. Then it started acting up. The issues are:-Maps finds the location and loads the directions, but as soon as I go to start the route it loses the location. This isn't a problem with my GPS because it works fine with all of my other apps that use it, such as weather apps. I have also downloaded GPS Status and Toolbox from the Play store and it hasn't helped.-IF it finds the gps signal, which it rarely does, it won't give me warning on the turn by turn voice navigation. It says to take the turn as I get to it, but won't give me a "turn left in .25 miles" or anything like that. I've cleared the cache, cleared the data, and uninstalled the updates and I still have this issue. It's really a problem for me because I almost got stranded in another state last week when it decided to crash. If anyone has any help, it'd be much appreciated!
