Software update not working...?
Friday 03rd of June 2011
Hi everyone, So I am currently on my 2nd thunderbolt. Unlike what I read here, I have actually had a great experience with the phone so far. The only reason I had to get a replacement is because I dropped my original one, and broke the screen. On my first Tbolt, I updated the firmware to 1.13.xxxx on the first day the OTA update was released. The update actually gave me great results, and I noticed the phone to be a bit more reliable afterwards (none of these reboots I keep hearing about). So 5 days ago I got my replacement phone due to cracking the screen, and noticed that it was still running the 1.12.xxxx firmware. Naturally, I wanted my phone to be as up to date as possible, so I went to settings>update software>check for update as I'm supposed to do, expecting a notification to pop up showing Verizon's OTA package. Instead, the dialog box pops up for about 3 seconds and then disappears completely, without telling me anything at all. Not even an error notification. I've tried everything..putting into 3g only, wiping the SD card, pulling the sim card, doing a factory reset
Latest OTA Update will not install
Tuesday 01st of May 2012
MT4G still running Android 2.2.1 build 1.17.531.2.CL277036. I have actually recived notification to download/Install the OTA update (oddly only when I am in California or in DC but at not home in Texas). I have downloaded it and it tries to install. I'll see a green progress bar for a minute or two and then but will stall at the screen with the red triangle. I am not perm-rooted (however have SuperUser as well as Visionary+ and Titanium BackUp installed). I have temp-rooted long enough to remove some bloatware. After several failed attempts at installing the March/April 2012 OTA update, I have uninstalled SuperUser as well as Visionary+ and Titanium BackUp and tried again with no success. I do have LauncherPro (free version) installed as well as Beautiful Widgets Lite. I'm not sure uninstalling these will have any success either at this point.I'd like to get GingerBread running on my phone but are at a loss. I thought about manually installing, but cannot find a working link to get the file I need. Looked at Bupah's article but the link is not working. 1)Where on the phone does the O
Updated: There Are Some Issues. UnrEVOked Is Here - One Touch Root For EVO 4G And Hero, Working Even After EVO's First OTA Update!
Wednesday 05th of June 2013
Yesterday, we reported that the EVO 4G was rooted, right in time for the launch day. The root method, however, required a full wipe and was quite tedious. The same hour the root instructions were released, a new root method, called unrevoked, was promised and scheduled to come out by midnight. However, Sprint's OTA update fixing the SD card issue also patched up the vulnerability that both root methods used.Fear not though, unrevoked was still released a few hours ago and works for both pre-OTA and post-OTA EVOs and only pre-OTA Heroes. The root method is very simple - you just download the .apk from your phone's browser and install it as an application. Then (you guessed it) run it.The new vulnerability that allowed root to be achieved has not been disclosed this time, in the interest of keeping the EVO rootable for as long as possible:Update #1 [6/5/10 1:00AM]: I've gone ahead and applied unrEVOked to my post-OTA EVO and it had root within 5 seconds. You will find what the process looks like at the bottom of the post. To check afterwards, I've installed android-wifi-tether - the fi

I just got a new A500 tablet and it came preloaded with 3.0.1, when I go to settings and try to run update, it says none available, system up to date. Does anyone know an easy way to manually update to the latest OS? Or will the OTA update eventually come? Thanks in advance for any help.
Droid Browser Not Working After OTA 2.2 Update
Thursday 19th of August 2010
So I received the OTA Froyo 2.2 update on my Droid 1 this morning. Ever since then, the stock browser doesn't work at all on 3G. I have Verizon, by the way. The 3G icon in the notification bar is on like normal, I have perfect reception, and it appears that all the other internet and data apps work over 3G fine, including Opera Mini, just not the stock browser. I also checked and found all my favorites had been erased. The exact error is a "webpage cannot be displayed" error. Anyone else have this problem, or maybe just know how to reinstall the browser? I absolutely want to avoid a factory reset, since it seems unnecessary at this point. I've looked literally all day online for an answer and got nothing. My phone is completely stock and it was an OTA update, so I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially since it doesn't appear there's any way to have the browser button link to another browser (and I like the stock browser anyways).
CyanogenMod Working On OTA Update Solution, Plans On Dropping ROM Manager In The Process
Sunday 30th of September 2012
//CyanogenMod is about to become a little bit better for all by bringing its own OTA update system to the masses. Many of you are scratching your heads and wondering what this means, right? Well if you’re a CM ROM user, you’re well-aware that in order to grab an update, you would traditionally use ROM Manager which allows users to quickly and efficiently pull updates manually to their ROMs. The only catch with ROM Manager is that it’s not open-source, unlike the CM ROM itself. So the CM team decided enough is enough and developed its own open-source updating method within its own builds. The newly developed OTA update solution works in a simple way too. While it won’t include push notifications (that feature requires Google Apps framework), the updater will automatically check for updates at user-defined intervals and pull the update once something is available, pulling its info from get.cm. The awesome thing is the updater will allow users to pull updates whether they’re the official, alpha or nightlies builds. At this stage, we only know it’s curre
Verizon Location Agent after OTA Update - Battery Killer!
Friday 03rd of February 2012
Since the update my battery has taken a nose dive. (this on top of an already poor battery life). Yesterday I had my phone in airplane mode for most of the day yet my battery STILL drained at an alarming pace (down to 10% after 7 hours of no use!). So i checked my Battery Use - 30% use by "Verizon Location Agent". I researched this and it's all over the web in android forums, blogs, etc. It's not part of Verizon Location Services (this was turned off). From what i've read it has something to do with trying to find the best cell tower/satellite/etc for communications. Well, thanks but no thanks pal! It came in via the OTA update. Not sure if everyone is having this problem but if your battery started sucking even worse afterwards, then it's something to check. One fix reported was to update it via the Market after which it would say that it wasnt compatible with the phone and would thus stop working (Force closes, etc would not work). Short of rooting your phone, this appeared to be the only option. So i tried it. ANd my phone went into a never ending boot cycle that was n
OTA update not working

Hi there, I unlocked my htc one so I could use it in the UK, and now I'm stuck on 4.1.2 unable to upgrade. Basically, the software update tells me there are no available updates, while I know there are some available! Does anyone know why it's not working for me? Thanks
OTA update not working Error 0x1111004

I cannot get my LG G2 to update OTA. It was rooted using IO root and I never did the hotspot hack. Is there any other issue that might be causing this problem?
(Noob Question) OTA Update Not Working Moto G 4G
Saturday 13th of June 2015
I know this sounds stupid, but i was trying to get an ota update on my rooted phone. I knew they used the stock recovery to do it so i flashed the stock recovery onto my phone. It shuts down, starts installing update, but after getting a third of the way through, it stops and reboots. Then a message comes up saying software update unsuccessful. Does this have anything to do with being rooted. I know this is a stupid question.
