App that allows photo capture in an app?
Tuesday 19th of February 2013
Hi.First, thank you. Thanks to the people who help for the sake of helping. I hope you make a million dollars, because you're the people who are deserving.I have a nexus 7, and installed a PayPal here app that must be homemade. I didn't see it credited in the post (on this forum) where I found the DL link.My biggest use for the PayPal here app is to photograph a check for deposit on my PayPal acct... So I have been sifting thru webcam apps for rooted nexus 7s, but haven't found any that allow a photo capture in an app besides whatever webcam app is running. What forum should I post this request in to get a decent response (if a decent response even exists)-sen
"PayPal Here" for Tablet?
Saturday 27th of October 2012
I recently found "PayPal Here", which is a credit card processor/reader for smartphones. I'd love to use it with my Acer A200 tablet but PayPal says they don't support tablets. I cannot download the app from the google market. Why is that? Or...how is that? My tablet is simply a giant phone! Does anybody know if there is any way to get this working? Maybe some kind of hack?https://play.google.com/store/apps/d..._result#?t=W10.
PayPal Here mobile payment system gets demonstration video
Thursday 15th of March 2012
The folks over at the huge pay site PayPal have taken the wraps off of their new mobile payment system. Aiming to take on the popular Square Mobile Payments they are calling this new platform PayPal Here. With a triangle mobile card reader that clicks right into your smartphone, users of Ice Cream Trucks across the nation can be excited. The device pictured above plugs simply into the 3.5mm headphone jack and from there becomes a full on mobile payment solution. With the new PayPal Here app it makes everything dead simple, and extremely convenient. Obviously merchants can accept cash and such but what is the fun in that when you have this little gadget. PayPal Here to Challenge Square for Mobile Payments
Thursday 15th of March 2012
Food truck owners rejoice! PayPal has introduced their own mobile card reader and payment service. Dubbed PayPal Here, the service is as straight forward as it can be. Merchants attach a credit card reader dongle (PayPal’s is shaped like a triangle and is blue) to their phones and buyers swipe their card through to pay for goods or services. Beyond that, merchants can take checks and cash, and the app will allow them to log sales as they are made in order to keep the books up-to-date. PayPal challenges Square by offering a 2.7% transaction compared to 2.75%. It may not seem like much but every cent counts. Unfortunately, the app is only available on iOS but PayPal urges Android users to order the card reader anyway as an Android app will soon follow. Head to PayPal.com/here to get started.

PayPal Here Direct Payment Service App Gets A Major Facelift And Dynamic Search In 2.0 Update
Tuesday 08th of April 2014
PayPal's Here direct sale and money transfer service is an admirable rival to the similar Square, and before today its standard Android app was perfectly fine. But you can't deny that it looked a little... iPhoney. Thankfully the second release of the PayPal Here app brings the user interface more in line with other polished Android apps, and throws a little expanded functionality in for good measure. The whole app has been simplified and streamlined, according to the change log, and customers should now be able to swipe their credit or debit cards at any time during the purchasing process. (You know, like the better kind of retail PIN pads.) The customer entry, profiles, inventory system, and logins have all been simplified and sped up. Sellers can now search through orders and purchases from the app, and the cart view screen will show customers more information than before. Old screenshots for comparison. The user interface is considerably flatter than before - in fact, it looks a lot like the mockups for Google's upcoming Hera system, in what's probably a bit of convergent design

But I've read that the app is finicky and does not work on a number of them.Does anyone half one of those lower priced phones that they could test the PayPal app on, or know of compatible phones for it?

PayPal Here Expands To Fit The Larger Screens Of Select Android Tablets
Thursday 18th of September 2014
Severalyears back this company called Square produced a product that let people accept credit card payments on their smartphones using this portable swiper-thingy that plugs into the device's headphone jack. PayPal saw this and decided that it wanted in on this action, so it produced a similar offering known as PayPal Here. The solutionworked with phones, but many businessesrelying on such products for point-of-sale like to rely on tablets instead. Now PayPal Here works with those too.The PayPal Here app's bright and simplistic UI could possibly pass for one designed by Google, though considering how all over the place that company's appscan be, that's admittedly not narrowing things down all that much. Regardless, the design is slick, and it should look great on a stock Android device. Then again, so doesSquare. Here's the list of tablets PayPal saysit has tested theupdated appon (complete with a couple misspellings and errors). The current Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 make an appearance, as do plenty of Galaxy Tabs. This isn't a comprehensive selection, but it does cover many of the ba
