Pen and paper replacement app?
Friday 16th of November 2012
I'm looking for a pen and paper replacement. What is the best app that allows my handwritten notes to be cut and pasted into an MS Word document and also allows my handwritten notes to be searchable by keyword? For example, if you take notes in class in MS Word through a semester and now it's exam time, but you want to find your notes from that lecture about the industrial revolution, you can use the search function and type in the keywords "industrial revolution" and it'll find you instances where you wrote that in your MS Word document. I would like this search feature with pen and paper, to the extent possible with tablets. Ideally, I would take notes all day and at the end of the day, I could either scroll through my notes and find what I want, or search for a specific word as if I were in MS Word. Obvious, decent OCR ability would be a necessity.Bottom line: I want a pen and paper with a "ctrl + F" search function and limitless paper. Being able to transfer into MS Word is gravy.Could I do something like that with an app on an Android tablet? If so, what app(
tablet pc used with a digital pen and paper what works?
Wednesday 21st of September 2011
Looking at the tablet and android systems flexibility. Does anyone have experience of using a digital pen linked by blue tooth to a tablet.I teach and have to draw and write the same things with several classes over a period of a few weeks. If I could capture the sheets being drawn on during demonstrations and then send them out to the kids phones it would give the kids their own copy of the work to reference. I would also be able to place the files on the server and internet giving the pupils a choice of reference materials.Only thing I have seen being demonstrated on the net is the GXpen. Also if I can get this to work will it be memory hungry and should I get a 32gb tablet rather than the base 16gb.
Galaxy Note 10.1 for pen and paper replacement????
Sunday 23rd of December 2012
I'm in technical sales and have been looking for a pen and paper replacement for years now, closest I've ever come was Grafitti on the old Palm pda's. I don't really need or want handwriting recognition I'm just after an electronic means of taking, filing and keeping handwritten notes. Over the course of a day and several sales calls on customers I have pages of notes. I have been scanning these and storing electronically, I'd like to just write everything on my tablet and save me a whack of work recreating notes electronically and hours of scanning and tagging everything together, only to be then sync'd with my playbook so I have all this with me. I'm never in the office so the more I can do on one device the better. Is anyone using their tablets in this method? How is the batter life over the course of a full workday? All thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Now that the initial flood of Nexus news is over and we're all waiting patiently with our credit cards out ready to spend some money on November 13th, take a few minutes to check out this week's app picks. This week, we have a couple belated Halloween apps, a couple fun games and a few others as well -- all hand picked for your enjoyment. TeamLava, that made Farm Story and Restaurant Story has released the Halloween edition of its Bakery Story app. The cute graphics and recipes will feature ghoulish-themed guests and decorations, as well as food to prepare like cauldron cupcakes and witch hat cookies. Like most of the games in this genre, it's a bit of a time-waster, but should help you stay in the Halloween spirit for at least another week.Download: Bakery Story: Halloween (Free)Simon Sage - Knights of Pen and PaperOkay, I'll admit it - I've rolled a few twenty-sided die in
Navy Battle 3D: Classic Battleship game, minus the pen and paper
Monday 29th of October 2012
The Battleship game is a popular pencil-and-paper guessing game. It consists of two players, each one with her or his own paper game board. The players arrange their ships, take turns in shooting the opponent's ships until all opponent ships are destroyed. The game was later on improved with pins, game board with holes, and real plastic battleships. It's a simple game, with simple rules, but with potential for hours of tactical fun.The Google Play Store has an Android version inspired by the same game. Developed by BitmapPiranha, the Navy Battle 3D game is a three-dimensional Battleship game for Android. The game has 2 game modes: Solo Game and Multiplayer. Solo Game will let you play the game against your Android phone. There will be a total of 9 stages to unlock. The level of difficulty will also increase as you unlock more stages. The game can be played just like the usual Battleship game. You will be presented with a 9 x 9 grid. This will be your virtual game board where you will place your ships. Your ships will occupy squares depending on its size. The aircra
Pen and Paper Roleplaying Games

I searched the Gaming forum but couldn't find a thread on this so I thought i'd start one. I can't believe no-one has done this before although from the AFRPFG thread I gather a few of you are roleplayers.I wonder how many more roleplayers on the forum there are? It's an Android forum so it's not outside the bounds of possibility! I started in 1979 with basic D&D and moved onwards and upwards from there. I estimate I now own well over 100 different RPG systems and probably over 1000 RPG books in total taking up three bookcases in my study. I mainly GM as we don't have many others in our group who like to run games. My current favourite systems are Cyberpunk 2020 and Exalted although I do run a 1st ed AD&D game too (next session this afternoon as it happens).I also wrote and currently run a live action RPG based on Cyberpunk for about sixty people. Hectic but fun.So come on, any other roleplayers here and if so, what are your favourite games?
