Google Signs New Deals With Janrain And Gigya To Potentially Bring The Google+ Sign In To Basically The Entire Internet

Tuesday 02nd of April 2013 /
It was a little over a month ago that Google introduced Google+ Sign-In. The basic idea being the same as it is with Facebook and Twitter: use one account to access all your sites. So, what makes this different from those other networks? Well, allegedly this will result in less social spam and a better integrated experience. Oh, and also, now that Mountain View has signed deals with Janrain and Gigya, the big red button should be just about everywhere on the internet.Between the two companies, the client list is gargantuan. Everything from major television networks, ISPs, online publications, and consumer brands are represented. It's not just companies like Frito-Lay and Red Bull, either—companies you know of, but whose sites you don't spend a lot of time on. Places like Reuters, TIME, BBC, and dozens upon dozens of newspapers work with one of the two social giants. Heck, even Gizmodo, Forbes, and Verizon's own website utilize them in some way. Now, this doesn't mean that every site in the network is going to suddenly support Google+. For starters, sign-ins aren't the only serv

Quell Reflect - Merging rain drops with spikes and poison to catch pearls

Monday 16th of January 2012 /
We all know how much I loved the first Quell, and despite the disappointing nature of sequels, I thought Quell had too solid gameplay to let us down. Of course, it didn’t, and it’s just as fun a game as the first. I’m not as giddy about this sequel as I was with the original game, but in terms of addictiveness, ease-of-play, and longevity, Quell: Reflect is every bit as good as the first game. The gameplay of Quell is straightforward and nothing has changed from the original. You move the raindrop around the board while avoiding spikes, infinite loops, and, this time around, poison bubbles. With this type of gameplay, there is certainly no reason to change it up (see: Angry Birds), and Quell: Reflect sticks to the path Quell laid before it.  You won’t get frustrated with controls or have your fingers stick, but with the extra raindrops you may accidentally move one instead of the other. This is by no means a frustrating, only a minor annoyance from time to time, and it isn’t something I think the developers could really help. Just make sure your finger

Weird Rumor: 32GB Nexus 4 With CDMA and LTE to be Announced at Google I/O? – Droid Life

Sunday 21st of April 2013 /
Rather than a Nexus 5 is there a chance that Google releases a new version of the Nexus 4 this summer? According to a new rumor that is making the rounds and appearing in our inbox far too often, this is the word on the dark, back alley, make-sure-you-have-a-tight-grip-on-your-purse, streets. The rumor is this – Google is going to release a new variant of the Nexus 4 with both CDMA and LTE radios inside, along with 32GB of storage. It’ll be unveiled at Google I/O in May. So, what do we think? Well, first, Google seems to have made it clear at times that they aren’t fans of tying their Nexus devices to carriers. We all know from back in the days of Ice Cream Sandwich that their Android engineers spoke of having their minds blown over the carrier approval process for delaying what should be simple updates. But then again, Andy Rubin said after the launch of the Nexus 4 that they would “certainly have a desire to offer devices on every carrier on the planet.” His comments came during an explanation over the lack of LTE in the device and the idea that they

Google to work with Mastercard and Citigroup to use your phone as a credit card

Tuesday 05th of April 2011 /
According to the folks over at themunchonline, Google is teaming up with Mastercard and Citigroup so Android users could use their phone as their payment system. There are already apps like keyring in the Market that allow users to scan their phone’s screen for rewards cards, but utilizing the new NFC chips in Android devices users wouldn’t even need to do that. It would be as simple as moving your phone in front of the scanner and it automatically charging you (think Visa paywave).//This is still is in the development phase, but it looks promising. The only concern would be of security. This could obviously create the motive to steal your phone; how would Android counter this? It could be as simple as a password needed to use the NFC chip, but no one knows. When you think about it though, if someone stole your phone and used it to purchase something how would that be any different than someone stealing your wallet to get your credit card to purchase something? Just something to ponder. How do you guys feel about this? Excited? Scared? Do you think this could cause a secu

Oppo teases plug-in camera lenses with OIS and up to 15x optical zoom

Friday 30th of August 2013 /
Oppo is a relatively unknown name outside of China, even though the company did make some headway with the Oppo Find 5, and is hoping to continue to establish itself on the world stage with its upcoming Oppo N1. There’s very little we actually know about the device, except for the fact that is expected to feature a rear touch panel, and house a great camera. If you felt like the 13MP N-Lens “owl” sensor camera isn’t enough, Oppo is there to help you out. Today, the company teased a series of plug-in camera lenses that can be switched out and attached to its smartphones. The initial batch of these plug-in camera lenses use a 16MP Sony CMOS sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), with one type featuring 10x optical zoom, and another thicker version boasting 15x optical zoom, along with support for NFC, WiFi, and SD card storage. While Sony is all set to change the smartphone camera game with the highly-anticipated Xperia Z1 and the availability of external attachable lenses for other smartphones, it’s great to see companies like Oppo looking to shak
