Will the world phone Droid Pro work on AT&T or T-Mobile in the United States?

Wednesday 17th of November 2010 /
The Motorola Droid Pro is a "global"device or "world phone,"meaning it has a SIMcard slot and can work on GSMnetworks. But will the Motorola Droid Pro work on AT&T or T-Mobile in the United States? That's one of the burning questions as we get our first look at the new Android smartphone on Verizon. According to Motorola's specs, the Droid Pro supports the 850MHz and 1900MHz GSMfrequencies, which is what AT&Tuses for much of its network. We've got an e-mail in to Verizon to see what the official policy is regarding unlocking the device to work on U.S. GSMnetworks. But in the meantime, join us after the break as we see whether you can you the Droid Pro on a GSMnetwork in the United States. And if you have any insight into opening up this bad boy, let us know in this forum thread.More info and video of the progress is after the break. If you haven't gathered by now, the answer to the questions above are, no, we can't yet use the Droid Pro on T-Mobile or AT&T. We've SIMunlocked the phone, but it's still not allowing calls or data on AT&T in the U.S. P

Receive $100 back in credit after purchasing the Nexus 7 HSPA+ on AT&T with 2 year contract

Tuesday 15th of January 2013 /
The Nexus 7 WiFi is already a great tablet, but Google also offers a version of the tablet that is capable of connecting to AT&T’s HSPA+ network for 4G data anywhere in the United States.  The beauty of the Nexus 7 32GB HSPA+ model is the fact that it is unlocked and can be used in any capacity on AT&T.  However, AT&T is now offering a special promotion for those willing to ink a two year contract. From now until February 14, 2013, AT&T is offering $100 back in bill credit for customers willing to sign a two year contract on their brand new Nexus 7 32GB HSPA+ tablet.  By itself, the tablet costs $299, but you will incur monthly fees for two years by signing the contract.  While $100 may not be a huge credit back, it is better than nothing for customers who planned on signing a two year contract anyway. The exact text of the offer reads:Special Offer from AT&T:Through February 14, 2013, receive a $100 AT&T bill credit by signing a 2 year service agreement on qualified postpaid standalone or Mobile Share plans. Activate on-device, visit an AT&T stor

Carrier Billing Comes To Android Market On AT&T - Creates Audible Drop In The Paid App Bucket

Sunday 22nd of December 2013 /
That's right, carrier billing is now available for some Android users on the least Android-friendly wireless carrier in the US. Huzzah. I guess I shouldn't be so cynical - I am an AT&T customer, after all. Unfortunately, I also run CyanogenMod 6 on my AT&T Nexus One, and have not yet received any Market update to allow me to use carrier billing, and doubt I will until an official Gingerbread build coaxes me off my custom ROM goodness. The Android Developers blog has stated the carrier billing option will roll out to phones as part of the larger Market update that has been floating around in ZIP form for a couple of weeks - but it remains entirely unclear what phones or versions of Android will be eligible.More importantly, this probably isn't a big deal for most people already using Android devices on AT&T, especially not US customers. Google Checkout has seen a rapid expansion in its user-base since Android's commercial debut, and it's safe to say there's not a lot to be gained for current users by making a switch to carrier billing of app purchases. Advertisements popping up in notification bar on T-Mobile Android phones

Friday 30th of March 2012 /
Some angry T-Mobile Android users are venting in the forums about the latest My Account update that seems to now included pop-up ads in the notification bar. Customers have reported recently receiving ads for Yahoo Sports and T-Mobile Web2go. For many, the notification bar is designated for important information only, such as missed calls, voice mails and messaging alerts.  To now have random spam thrown in the mix is a bit annoying to say the least. There appears to be no option to discontinue this feature at this time leaving many customers feeling deceived and trapped. LG Optimus G Pro In White Launches On AT&T, $99.99 With Two-Year Contract

Friday 23rd of August 2013 /
If you've wanted a phablet in white, or just any smartphone larger than 5 inches, we would forgive you for thinking that the Galaxy Note II was the only option out there - or, if you've been keeping up, the recently-released Galaxy Mega. But here's the thing, there are other massive phones available, such as the LG Optimus G Pro, and as of today, it's also available in white. How does it look? Well, exactly like the leaked images that rolled out earlier this month. This is the same LG Optimus G Pro, just paler. For $99.99 down with a two-year contract, customers get a large 5.5-inch 1080p display pulling pixels from a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and juice from a sizable 3,150mAh battery. There's a comfortable 32GB of internal storage here that can still be expanded using a microSD card. Combine it all with a 13MP rear-facing camera, and this makes for a highly competent device.
