AOKP JB-MR1 Build 4 custom ROM based on AOSP Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is now available for 20+ devices
Tuesday 26th of February 2013
The AOKP team doesn’t sleep and now they’ve managed to release the ‘build 4′ of the AOKP JB MR1 and upgrade from Android 4.2.1 to Android 4.2.2. Which means that they’ve managed to offer the latest Android OS in stock shape for over twenty devices.Installing this custom ROM is easy as you simply have to download the ROM, then Google Apps. Flash the files using a custom Recovery such as TWRP or CWM. It is based on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean AOSP and with this release there are 7 new devices that have been added to the supported list: HTC One XL, Motorola Droid 4, Motorola Droid 3, Motorola Droid RAZR, Motorola Droid Bionic, Galaxy Nexus Sprint and the Motorola Droid RAZR.Every time you want to flash a custom ROM, it is highly recommended for you to wipe data and factory reset devices. However, if you’re currently using a previous version of the official AOKP JB MR1 ROM then you won’t need to factory reset the phones. However, if you’re coming from a different ROM or from Android 4.0.x or Android 4.1.x then the ‘factory reset̵
Where are my ROM Manager Backups in Android 4.2?
Wednesday 28th of November 2012
Hello, I have a rooted Nexus 7 running 4.2.1 (JOP40D). Prior to 4.2 I had Cyanogenmod 10 installed. I've been using ROM Manager (updated today to v126.96.36.199) and Titanium Backup. Everything worked fine and after running ROM Man and Titanium B, I would connect the Nexus 7 to my Dell XPS 8300 PC & copy the ROM Man backup to my desktop and then copy the entire TB folder to my PC. No problem, did it many times. Since updating to 4.2 (i know it has multi-user capabilities and some sort of SD/0 card issue....) I can run ROM Man & TB with no problem on my Nexus 7. When I connect the Nexus 7 to my PC via USB and open Windows Explorer when I go to the CWM/Backups folder or the TB folder the only files visible to my PC are from 11/17 which is BEFORE I updated to 4.2. Question: How do I access my current ROM Manager & TB folders to copy the latest backups to my PC? I have File Expert & Root Explorer (paid version) installed on my Nexus 7. If I can access the ROM Manager & TB folder from them and copy/paste someplace where my PC can see them, that would be good enough. Thanks
AOKP ROM releases its first Android 4.2.2 build
Tuesday 26th of February 2013
The Android Open Kang Project has moved on to it’s forth build, which is bringing the ROM up to date with the latest version of Android, 4.2.2. The AOKP team has been focusing on bug fixes and supporting a seamless merger with existing versions of the ROM, so the updating process should be nice and straight forward.4.2.2 brings a few new features to the Android experience; there are a lot of under the hood tweaks and performance improvements, a redesigned camera app with HDR mode, new photo editing features, and a host of other changes. If you want to check them all out then head on over to the official Android change log.As well as the 4.2.2 improvements, the developers have also added a few new handsets to the growing list of supported devices. If you’re an owner of the an HTC One XL (AT&T), Motorola Droid 4, Motorola Droid 3, Motorola Droid RAZR, Motorola Droid Bionic, or Galaxy Nexus (Sprint) then you’ll also be able to enjoy AOKP.If you’re going to move over to the new build then the AOKP team recommend that you wipe data when updating from a differen
[UPDATE: SDK, too] ROM developers be damned: Android 4.2 headed to AOSP right now; factory images available

Well that didn’t take long, did it? Shortly after the launch of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 here in the United States Google is already delivering the latest and greatest version of Android to the Android Open Source Project. What does this mean for users? Well, not much unless you also happen to be a developer. This code will make it possible for some of your favorite ROM makers, like the CyanogenMod team, to begin work on the next major iterations of their Android 4.2-infused wares. There’s no telling how long it’ll take each individual ROM to incorporate Android 4.2, but you’ll want to keep your eyes and ears close to the development street by visiting XDA and RootzWiki. Some will take longer than others (we’re just now getting CyanogenMod in stable Jelly Bean form starting today) but just know that your favorite developers will most likely be grabbing this code as soon as they can and begin work right away.In very related news, you can find factory images for the “takju” Galaxy Nexus and both Nexus 7 variants on Google’s developer site,

Galaxy Nexus users! From one of my favorite DroidX developers ever comes a super clean AOSP source built Rom that is light and built for performance. Announcing the IML74K Android 4.0.3 Build by dev "Fabulous" some know him as BIGXIE. I was a huge fan of the APEX Rom series on my DroidX and am loving the development being pumped out by this guy on the Galaxy Nexus! As you can tell this Rom is basically a modified stock build. Nothing super fancy here. Just clean unadulterated Ice Cream Sandwich the way Google intended with a few helpful mods and tweaks! Of course this Rom is based on Android version 4.0.3. It maintains the stock look and feel. Root and busybox are preinstalled. All apks are deodexed/zipaligned/and optomized. Some custom goodies include; customizeable notification pulldown widgets, built in performance settings (overclock to 1350gHz), working facebook sync, file manager, advanced power menu w reboot options and screenshot, plus more!Grab this Rom here and Discuss!

Netflix has been gently updating and adding features ever since it debuted on Android, and while today's addition isn't earth-shattering, it'll be welcome to anyone with a shiny new Nexus device. The primary addition to the 2.1 update is full support for Android 4.2, but the player UI has also gotten a pretty big facelift. Bigger buttons and more transparent elements make it a lot easier to pinpoint tracking, and the whole thing seems at least superficially faster. The nicest change to the player interface is the ability to force full screen. That won't mean much for those of you already on a 16:9 device, but for tablets with a little extra space up top and bottom, the cropping makes for a nice lack of borders.
