Rooting the Event
Monday 04th of March 2013
I picked up this phone on Thursday because the Rise I had started boot looping. I was able to root my phone by following the same steps as on the below link. Ok, so the link I posted here is now dead. So instead, I am posting a step by step tutorial. Keep in mind that I did not come up with this procedure. The thanks all go to other people. 1) Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled by going to Settings>Developer options. USB debugging should be checked.2) Download Poot from the following link: http://db.tt/0HqxEURT. I downloaded this from my phone and my phone put it in the Download folder on my SD Card, but you can download it onto your computer and copy it to your SD Card.3) Download Ministro II from the Google Play store.4) Download Superuser from the Google Play store. There are several, but the one that works for me is the one created by CHAINDD.5) Run Poot-debug(W100).apk from your SD Card. Run the Poot application. There is a button at the top called "Press here to poot". 6) Poot pushes su to xbin.7) Open Superuser application. Slide the screen to the right, go
Still luvin my event
Tuesday 30th of July 2013
I've had my event for 4 months now I'm still very happy with it. I have to chuckle at the posts I see dissing the event for random reboots and freezeups. Holy criminey folks whaddaya expect 30-40-50-bucks? Yes, I experience the reboots and the crashes. I'm thankful that the thing actually does reboot itself rather than having to remove the battery. I'm always pleased when after a crash or freeze the thing will still power down if I hold the power button long enough and restart it. I mean, removing the battery from my old OPV and ALL the feature phones I had before that was a ritual that I seemed to be performing several times a week. I don't miss it at all. My guess is that ICS is what gives this phone the SUPERPOWER to usually heal itself without my having to rip it open to depower it. This is my 2nd Android and my first root. I looked into rooting my old OPV but that process was absolutely terrifying. No way I was gonna attempt it. I rooted my event using the POOT method and it was simple as pie. Got wifi tether using the Trev E mod. I'm an over the road trucker and this little ge

Thursday 05th of December 2013
Hi all I tried rooting my phone using the poot method and I got the daemon 64 error but with the built in root check it said su binarry was pushed to xbin so I used it like a rooted phone tried rom toolbox lucky patched swap per etc and it worked for a while then it wouldn't allow super user or supersu to allow access so I unrooted it and tried it again now my phone doesn't want to start up it does occasionally and idk y but I can get it into a recovery screen to factory reset it but after I rooted it I couldn't is there anyway to reflash the phone like its a bricked phone right now my phone starts with like a five percent chance when plugged into my high output wall charger and only stays on for like a minuite or soalso if what my phones potentially doing with the factory recovery screen helps with any pieces of the boot loader puzzle I'll gladly donate to a good cause cheap phones are cheap for a reason if you pin the h#// out of the processesser and it sets ablaze its easily replaceable for 40 bucks if you or anyone else thinks this could help with the boot loader issue I can mail

Monday 17th of March 2014

I tried to root my phone using the method found here: Finally rooted M865c for Straight Talk. But after I pressed "Press here to poot" I got the messages "[-] didn't find symbols" and "A demon materialzed while pooting. Error code: 20 su binary was not written." Huh? I tried rebooting and then pressing "Build-in rootcheck," but the message I got back was:Path is:"/sbin:/vendor/bin:/system/sbin:/system/bin:/system/xbin"no su was found in $PATH Any idea what this means? I'm so clueless.

Unbrick Kyocera Hydro with No Google Play and No File Manager
Saturday 16th of August 2014
Hi I am newb to this android world. Recently I did a mistake of uninstalling a few system apps after rooting the phone using the Poot method. However the end result was that I started getting the error "com.google.process.gapps has stopped". I thought it was due to some apps not being there and I went ahead and reset the phone using built-in recovery. Now the problem is that I also lost the file manager as well as browser on the phone. And now there is no Poot or any other file manager on the phone. There is Google Play Store app on the phone but it keeps saying that "unfortunately Google Play store has stopped", even when I try to open the Play Store, I get the same error. Gmail is behaving the same way. However I can tell that my phone is not completely broken. I still get the network signals as well as the WIFI is also working. I have looked into the option of installing/pushing the poot, Ministro and even a file manager apk's into the system/app folder using Android SDK and ADB. However I do not see these apps in the menu after rebooting the phone. I need som
