[New App] 'Press' Is A Beautiful, Simple, And Functional RSS Reader That Syncs With Google Reader
Thursday 19th of December 2013
At this point, everyone probably knows that gReader is my RSS client of choice on Android. Of course, everyone should also know that I love pretty apps. I'm actually a sucker for a clean, minimalistic layout, and will often choose what looks better over what's actually functional. Maybe I'm just vain. Whatever the reason, though, when I laid eyes on Press, it was an insta-buy for me – it's just so pretty I couldn't resist. Turns out it's quite functional, too. Win/win. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Basically, Press is a very nice looking RSS reader for Android. It does things that most RSS readers do, like sync with Google Reader, for example. And it to does it all in a very clean package. Did I mention it's pretty? I seriously can't stop looking at it. Note: The background color actually shows up darker in the screenshots than it does on the device. It's not just another pretty face, though – Press offers some really nice features to go along with its simplistic approach to reading. For example, if you long-press the favicon in the unread list, it gives you the option

How to send texts with google voice # without data or wifi (but with voice/text service)
Wednesday 20th of March 2013
Hi, first time poster here. I've been scouring the web for an answer to my question but haven't had any success. I recently re-signed up with T-Mobile's $30 unlimited text/data/100 min talk plan. I use a google voice # for everything, so that's what everyone identifies me by. Integration for calling is fine; my question concerns texts. When I'm at my home, or in my area, everything is fine. I have data, so I can either use the GV app, or the new "Messaging + GV" app. All outgoing texts have my recognizable GV # id. Here's my problem. I occasionally visit my parents where there is no T-Mobile data service - only the standard voice/text. As a result, unless I'm near wifi, I can't use the the GV app or M+GV app. I can still text but only with my T-mobile # as the id #. It's a huge pain as no one identifies me by that number. So my question is: Is there any way to simply have my GV # number show up as the ID number for texts when I don't have wifi or data (but text through T-Mobile is still available)? I have unlimited texting, so I don't mind if it's going through T-Mobile; I'
Tips: Import Google TV Queue subscriptions with Google Reader
Thursday 27th of January 2011
One of the great features of Google TV is the “Queue” feature that will act as your audio or video podcast subscription tool. Google offers a way to add to the queue by typing in RSS feeds in the GTV search bar and pressing subscribe, but there’s actually an easier way to sign-up.Quite a few people don’t use RSS, but I strongly encourage Google TV users to take a look at Google Reader after the first time they add a feed to their GTV. A folder labeled “Google Queue” will appear containing links to your subscriptions. From here, you can add to feeds from your Listen subscriptions or from new feeds added from the browser.Rather than repeatedly type in RSS feeds, why not just copy what you already subscribe to in Google Reader? Keep in mind that your Google TV device must be logged into the same Google account that you plan to use for syncing with Google Reader. Follow these steps to quickly add your feeds.1. Go to “Queue” on your GTV menu and click “Sync with your Google account.” Then add any of the many feeds available in the “Explore”
How to Block Calls with Google Voice the correct way.
Wednesday 20th of January 2010
This tutorial is for those that want the blocked call message to come up for your Verizon number and your Google Voice number. This is from my own trial and error testing. I don’t know if any of these steps is not needed, but I will give all the steps that I used to get it to work. If you have anything to add, please do. I will be using the PC to change most settings on Google Voice, because I find it to be the best way. If possible have another phone you can test this with. To lessen confusion, and keep from having to repeat words over and over, here is a list of words and description of their use. 1)Block call message = Tone..Tone…Tone….Were sorry you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this recording in error, please check the number and try your call again. 2)Verizon Number = Your main number, not your Google Voice number. 3)Google Voice number = google voice number. Do it this way. Do I know why it works this way? No. Does it work this way? Yes, and as long as its working that’s a
applications - Are there any RSS Aggregator apps that integrate with Google Reader with OAuth
Monday 13th of September 2010
I use the NewsRob app for offline aggregation of my Google Reader feed, but its always bothered me that it requires me to enter my Google username & password through the app itself. There are several other RSS apps that do the same. There's no way I'm going to enter information that important into an app that someone else wrote, so I created a separate Google account just for Google Reader.I could be wrong, but shouldn't apps be able to use Google's OpenID or OAuth or have access to the currently logged in Google account on the phone to access Google Reader?
