List of apps safe to remove

Saturday 08th of January 2011 / androidforums.com
These apps can safely be removed from the LG Optimus M.Just because an app is listed here does not necessarily mean that it is useless or that you will want to remove it. It only means that it can safely be removed without damaging anything else.If you remove an .apk, then you can also remove the corresponding .odex. Not all apps will have an .odex.Apps safe to remove: AnalogClockWidget.apk - Analog Clock widgetBoingo_Wi-Fi.apk - Boingo WiFi Calculator.apk - CalculatorCalendar.apk - Calendar AppCalendarProvider.apk - Supports the calendar. Remove only if Calendar.apk and CalendarWidget.apk have been removed.CalendarWidget.apk - Calendar WidgetCarHome.apk - Car Home - Remove CarHomeLauncher.apk if this is removed.CarHomeLauncher.apk - Car Home Launcher - Linked to CarHome.apk ClockWeatherWidget.apk - Clock Weather WidgetDeskClock.apk - Clock appDigitalAlarmWidget.apk - Alarm Clock widgetDualClockWidget.apk - Dual Clock widget Email.apk - Email app - Safe to remove if you use Gmail or some other email app GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk - Google Search widget and app Homeselector.apk - Home S

Safe to remove apps

Friday 18th of May 2012 / androidforums.com
I am creating this topic because I think we could use a thread dedicated to see what is safe to remove and what is not. Right now it won't have much, but I plan to provide good info. please post what you have been able to remove and even what Bootloops phone or just causes problems. ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE TRYING THIS! BOTH NANDROID AND TITANIUM BACKUPWays to Remove Unnecessary AppsOne way and my personal favorite is to use Titanium Backup. It can uninstall these apps but can also back them up. Another way is to use a file manager that can access /system/app. this is one of the harder ways since it can get difficult to know what is what because it just gives package names. ex. com.mobitv.client.tmobiletvhd.apk is the T-Mobile TV appSafe to remove NOTE: This is how they appear in Titanium Backup. Always make a backup both TiB and Nandroid before startingBuddies now 1.0Custimize homescreen 1.oEmail 1.0 (this is the widget not the android email app)Game BaseGmailGoogle Play BooksHighlightHome screen tipsLookoutMedia HubMore for MeNews & WeatherOcean WeatherPolaris OfficePro Apps

SAFE TO REMOVE APPS- Merit

Tuesday 05th of March 2013 / androidforums.com
So you rooted your phone and now you want to dump a bunch of stuff to make room. Cool. unfortunately, it's pretty easy to break it if you just start deleting stuff with no idea whats going on, so here are some safe ones. This refers to apps in /system/app. Most of these appear in your app drawer, but not all of them. 1. If you have stock, you will need to delete the .apk and ALSO the same .odex. (alarming.apk and alarming.odex, for example) 2. Or you could flash the deodexed version http://androidforums.com/merit-all-things-root/636906-rom-deodexed-stock-merit-update-zip-root-one-file.html and only have .apks to deal with. Your choice.SAFE TO REMOVE( don't need em, and your phone is fine without them) alarming.apk(alarm clock) BooksPhone.apk Calculator.apk DocumentsToGoViewers_pdf_eval.apk Facebook GMail GoogleQuickSearch.apk(you would not have that box, but you can use internet for google.)LiveWallpapers LiveWallpapersPicker Maps Music NotesPad Orkut PlusOne ProTips(this is theandroid guy that pops up on brand new phone) SoundRecorder stopwatch Street TaskManager Twitter videos Visu

Can someone make up a list of apps that are safe to remove after rooting your phone so I can add it to the ATR thread. I have a pretty good idea of what can be removed but someone that's made a Rom for the phone could tell a little better then I can. Thanks

Safe to remove apps

Sunday 08th of December 2013 / androidforums.com
Anyone removed apps yet? Just checking in to see what is safe to remove. Apparently, the way they've partitioned the 8GB created only 1.5gb of data available to apps and 4gb available as SD storage. Why on earth did they do this separation when we have a micro SD slot???? I could have used the 4gb for apps instead.

Masterlist of Safe to Remove Apps (come contribute)

Sunday 24th of August 2014 / androidforums.com
Hey all, right now Im trying to compile a list of apps that are safe to remove, for all of us manual debloaters out there. So far Ive frozen many of the apps listed in GameTheory's website that were included in his old debloat flash file. Ive also removed some things he didn't list.Once Im done testing various apps by freezing them in Titanium Backup, I will delete them with ES Explorer and then report back with my list of safe to remove apps.Lastly, I took a gander at Tokenpoke's thread and apparently he had a zip file that was available before that listed apps he tested and removed. Anyone have a copy of that?Anyways, I figured this would be a good thread to have for people who simply want to poke into one thread and know what apps are safe to remove or not. I did a lot of sleuthing here, as well as on XDA and Android Central. Its much easier to have a central thread for manual debloaters.Wish me luck.
