Hard Reset

Sunday 22nd of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I need to perform a hard reset on my wife's S III that she inherited from me. I know how to do it but I've heard differing views on whether you should remove the SIM card or SD card, or both, prior to resetting. Suggestions welcome. Tx Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337) using Tapatalk Pro

Firmware 4.3 Issues Samsung Galaxy S4

Tuesday 04th of February 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi everyone, I accepted last nite a firmware update on my Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505. It was about the new Android 4.3 version so i decided to say "OK" and I went to sleep. Today when i was supposed to use my phone i realized there are some weird issues: A earphone symbol is in top on the notification area, when no earphone is plugged to my device. I can't answer incoming calls because my phone believes there is a ghost earphoneI had to hard reset my phone twice with no resultsDue to hard reset i lost most applications and now i can't get them back: Whatsapp for instance (it seems Mobile Data or Wifi connections are not in good shape after firmware upgrade) I live in Ecuador-Latin America, but i bought my cell phone on USA last year and it was working fine before the firmware upgrade i did yesterday. Please let me know if there is a way to get back to the 4.2 (previous) firmware or there is a way to get my phone working properly. Thanks in advance- Larry

Galaxy S4 will not turn on or charge, no issue with battery.

Tuesday 29th of July 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, so yesterday I saw my phone only had 5% battery. I checked it just a minute or so later and it was off. I thought it was strange to have died so soon but I didn't think anything of it. When I got home I plugged it into the charger and noticed it wasn't charging. No charging icon, no red light, nothing. I used two other chargers which I tested with other devices and it still would not charge. I figured it could be my battery, but after trying two other batteries that DID work on a friends S4 I am sure it is not a faulty/dead battery issue. The only thing that my phone does that suggests any form of life is when I take my battery out and put it back in the phone vibrates and the "Samsung Galaxy S4" logo appears. Then nothing. ONCE, I tried the hard reset and it looked as if it was going to. The logo came up with small blue text at the top left. It then went blank and hasn't since even gotten that close to reset. I'm really unsure what to do. No clue what could have caused this, my phone just died in my car and then this happened. Very frustrated. Thanks in advance for

Galaxy S4 Black screen

Monday 22nd of September 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
For the last weeks I've had a recurring problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. The sound on my phone would go out completely. Phone calls, music, sounds from interaction with apps or the screen, nothing would make a sound. I noticed that if I tapped it on a hard surface, table for something along the lines, it would beep and work like normal. Today while listening to a podcast the problem happened again but this time with more frequency. The last time I taped it, the phone turned off. Black screen, no sound, nothing. I can not turn the phone on, if I plug in a charger, there is not indication that it is charging. The phone will begin to over heat and I can not do a hard reset via the Home, power and volume button combo. I know it is safe to say that it is pretty much a bricked phone now and I do have a warranty to replace it but for the time being I would still like to use my phone. Any ideas on what may be the problem and if there may be a fix I can use for the time being?

Galaxy S4 Google Edition: Black screen after Lollipop upgrade

Friday 19th of December 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I upgraded my Google Play Edition Samsung Galaxy S4 to Lollipop 5.0. The first time, after finishing with all the upgrade, the screen went all black except for the top line, where the battery, celular, wifi and notification icons appear, so I could not use the phone. After hard reset, phone was with normal screen, using it for a day. Trying to setup VPN, it required a password. I setup a pattern password and immediately after confirming it, the screen went all black again. Nothing I did would let me see the screen content again. Hard reset #2. Help!!

Samsung Galaxy S4 Screen problems --- erratic...

Tuesday 30th of December 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I just had the screen replaced for about 2 months ago. I have an otter case for it (the one with the screenprotector built in). The phone has been working perfectly until Saturday night when, for some reason, it wouldn't let me input the numbers to unlock the screen. The screen then went totally black. I looked up fixes and I ended up doing a hard reset. But even with that, the screen is still acting erratically. I checked and there are absolutely no scratches, dents, etc. It's a brand new screen, only 2 months old. The fact that when it is completely charged, the screen comes on and everything works, is making me think it's a software issue, maybe? There are parts on the screen that don't work while all other parts work. For example, when the dial pad shows up, I wouldn't be able to press the 2 button, but I can press the 5. How can I figure out the problem and how do i fix it? Oh yeah, and at times, the screen went green...but that has stopped happening... Thanks!
