Screen Protectors are 'NOT' all created equal...
Friday 07th of May 2010
In my relatively short stint owning my Droid I've already seen the Pros and Cons of a few screen protectors... I first applied the generic cut to fit ones from Walmart and was quite surprised at how clear they went on... but they did scuff up easily, probably needing replacing after a couple months.... I then got some Xtreme Guard ones off of eBay and while they are very thick and durable, they have much to be desired in terms of clarity and is a PITA to apply without quite a few airbubbles. So are there any out there that are crystal clear and can be applied flawlessly?..without the need to apply using water??.I was able to apply the Xtreme Guards with minimal air bubbles by breathing hot air on the screen while I was applying it to the Droid, but due to it's thickness it still looks slightly orange-peely...

Screen Protector Comparison
Thursday 01st of December 2011
I originally posted this in the pre-release thread, but it was requested that I repost it here. So, since people are talking about screen protectors, I'll give you guys a little write up here. I tested many different screen protectors on my Incredible about a year and a half ago. My findings on the more popular models are below.First off, a general statement. Don't buy fingerprint-proof or fingerprint reducing screen protectors. They will decrease the quality of the screen as well as interfere with the front facing camera and proximity sensor.Steinheil Crystal: Pros: Best optics of any screen protector I've seen. Perfectly smooth, no tackiness, and zero orange peel effect.Cons: Does not stand the test of time. They don't last as long as the wet application screen protectors. They scratch up much easier and the corners wear quicker. Expensive.Zagg Invisible Shield:Pros: Extremely durable, "self-healing".Cons: Terrible orange peel effect, tacky feel. Almost impossible to use Swype-style keyboards with this on your screen.Skinomi TechSkin:This is exactly the same as the Zagg In
Screen protectors pros and cons?
Sunday 25th of August 2013
HI all, I have a MAXX on preorder with wirefly. While I wait I am debating whether or not to use a screen protector on this phone. On all my previous smart phones I have had one, but never having dropped one or damaged a screen I am debating it usefulness. It dims the screen is hard to remove when you are done with the phone and considering resale. I am looking for the communities view. What are your views on this item? The pros, cons please help me a little with your insight. Thank you everyone for your help.

I want to be a tech reviewer!
Tuesday 17th of September 2013
Hello all, I am thinking of becoming a person who does reviews about technology (mostly accessories) and I wanted to know if anyone has any pointers. I've done a couple of reviews right here on AndroidCentral and I have gotten mostly positive feedback. I have never done a Youtube review before but I am considering it. I am hoping to get a lot of viewers (not to get popular, but to help more people make sound decisions on which accessories are a good fit for them). My goal is to simply review all the pros and cons with no bias and other fuss. I would like to get some pointers and/or followers for my next review. What kind of things should I add? If you guys have any preferences, what kind of accessories would most of you be interested in seeing (cases, external batteries, OTG cable, screen protectors, etc.) Any feedback will be great. Thanks!
Optimus G Pro vs Note 3
Sunday 06th of October 2013
Hey gals and guys, guy and gals. In my quest for a new phone toy I'm considering the G Pro and the Note 3. The G Pro has garnered some really good reviews, including here @ AC. So, I'd be remiss if didn't ask you what you think of it. Your Pros and Cons. I know it's less expensive than the Note 3 and doesn't have 3GB of RAM, etc....all the spec stuff. ...but what you think of the phone. On the G Pro:1. If you were buying again today would you still get it vs. the Note 3? 2. How've you found the rooting opportunities?3. How's the ecosystem? Cases, screen protectors pretty good and easy to find?4. How's the screen? Dead Pixels?5. What do you wish it did or didn't have or do? Over the next couple of weeks I'll be deciding and your input, as always, is valuble. Thanks as always!
[VIDEO] Installation of ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Tuesday 15th of October 2013
I've done quite a few of these videos. I'm no professional. Read the directions and use common sense. I have never had issues. After I began using glass screen protectors, I have mixed feelings about ZAGG products. There are pros and cons to each. Feel free to comment and/or ask questions. One thing, I am sure of is that an unprotected phone will get scratched if you place it in a pocket with keys or change. Even the sapphire on my dad's old Rolex is capable of being scratched.
(Review) iSmooth Google Nexus 7 2013 Ultra Premium HD
Monday 04th of November 2013
Description: The iSmooth Google Nexus 7 FHD 2013 Ultra Premium HD screen protector is a glossy screen protector for the new Nexus 7. It has a cutout for the camera. I wanted a screen protector before I took my brand new Nexus 7 HD out to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA for a month. This field environment can be tough on electronics - lots of sand, moondust (think sand, but the consistency of baby powder), and getting tossed in a pack with random sharp objects (keys, Leatherman, knives, weapon magazines, etc.). Included: Three screen protectorsMicrofiber clothFour dust removal stickers Pros: Great fit - pretty much as close as you can get and still be able to install easily.Durable - held up without a scratch after being tossed into an assault pack with lots of sharp stuff for a month.Good value - three screen protectors for $13 is great.Dust removal stickers are money - they work great.Installation - both the printed instructions and the YouTube videos make installation a snap.Lifetime warranty. Cons: Installation - would prefer if it were setup to install from the
[REVIEW] amFilm HD Clear Screen Protector
Tuesday 12th of November 2013
Overall it is a great screen protector for this device. It is crystal clear, and is difficult to even notice that it is on the device. Was not able to find any "rainbows" when looking from different viewing angles. Writing with the S Pen works perfectly and with a plastic tip, feels like Pen on Paper. Installation is very simple, and for the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better value. Currently on Amazon it is $2.95 with free shipping for a set of 2 protectors. Pros:- Looks great and protects screen very well- Works perfectly with S Pen- Easy install (no water to mess with)- Price (comes with 2 protectors)- Lifetime Warranty Cons:- Fingerprints are very visible- Lights will glare off protector, but anti-glare alternatives reduce "crystal clear" visibility. The "Cons" listed above are common with any "HD Clear" protector. It is a trade off you have to decide on. Either have a crystal clear protector with finger prints and glare, or an anti-glare protector that diffuses light a bit, but takes away from the clarity making text a bit
