screen rotation problem

Wednesday 20th of February 2013 / androidforums.com
Hello everyone. I had purchased the ZTE Avid 4G 5 days ago and sometimes the screen is lock in portrait view. Restarting the phone will fix the problem, but after a couple of hours the screen on the phone will not rotating to landscape. I did check the box next to auto rotation in settings so it's not a setting problem. Anyone experienced this issue with the ZTE Avid 4G? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Desktop cradles and screen rotation

Wednesday 26th of October 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi All, I spend most of my workdays in front of a computer, and have been looking at buying a charging cradle for my Merge (U.S. Cellular). I had a cradle for my last phone (HTC Touch, Windows Mobile 6) and found it very useful. Unlike the Touch, however, the USB port on the Merge is on the side of the phone. Correspondingly, the (very few) cradles that I've found for sale for the Merge require docking the phone horizontally. Personally, I don't have a preference for which way the phone is oriented - but I do want the text to be right-side-up when I'm looking at the screen. One of the few, persistent issues I've had with the Merge is screen rotation. Realistically, the problem probably stems from my lack of understanding about how screen rotation does / is supposed to work. Nonetheless, the fact remains that the home, dialer, and a few other common screens do not rotate, unless I force them to do so by sliding out the keyboard. (At which point they work fine, which begs the question why they don't rotate automatically, but that's another topic...) My concern, therefore, is that the

KitKat 4.4.4 Screen Rotation Issue

Friday 25th of July 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I noticed a rotation problem after updating to 4.4.4. The screen rotates randomly (probably it just reaches the point where the rotation should happen). But after this unintentional rotation, it doesn't come back to default position till I shake the device twice or thrice. I don't know if this is a problem with the update, but it worked fine until some days back. Anyone else noticed this?

Auto rotation not fix

Monday 22nd of September 2014 / androidforums.com
I have screen rotation problem, samsung s2 gt-i9100, android version 4.1.2. Screen rotation works sometimes on strange angles. Already tried calibrating but still not fix. I tried flashing another kernel to solved the problem using SiyahKernel S2-v6.0beta5 but it doesnt rotate anymore no matter how i tilt the phone. I've been repeatedly doing restore factory settings, wipe cache stil not solved.I've tried dialing *#0*# and go to accelerometer sensor, it seems okay, the needles are moving. I've also tried installing "bubble level" app, the bubble moves, the sensor seems okay.Again, tried flashing another firmmware XXMS7 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but still not work.Is there another solution to this problem?

landscape/portrait screen rotation effect not working

Monday 22nd of June 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
Galaxy S5/Verizon/Lollipop 5.0 When viewing photos, videos, websites, etc. my phone used to smoothly rotate the screen from portrait to landscape view (and vice versa) as a single "window". So as I'd tilt the phone and whatever I was viewing would remain on the screen and rotate with the phone. All smartphones have this effect so I hope I'm explaining it clearly. Now it doesn't have that rotating effect any more. I can still view things in portrait and landscape, but instead of rotating with the phone as I tilt it, whatever I'm looking at on the screen disappears from one view and reappears in the other. Although the functionality is still there, the look and feel and overall experience is diminished. I've checked the settings and screen rotation is turned off. I've turned it on and off while rotating the screen and the problem remains. I've powered down my phone and removed the battery a bunch of times and nothing's changed. Is there another setting that turns this effect on and off? This problem just appeared out of the blue the other day.
