New Superuser app!
Tuesday 05th of March 2013
Since we've just gotten the 4.1.2 Jellybean update, this may be a good time to try out a new Superuser app that's released by ClockworkMod that's just showed up in Play store:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.superuserThis is the third Superuser app. (The other two being the ubiquitous Superuser by ChainDD and SuperSU by Chainfire.) This new one is open source and free. Here's a demo by CWM at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_zDB2B-Wa8
Rooting the Event
Monday 04th of March 2013
I picked up this phone on Thursday because the Rise I had started boot looping. I was able to root my phone by following the same steps as on the below link. Ok, so the link I posted here is now dead. So instead, I am posting a step by step tutorial. Keep in mind that I did not come up with this procedure. The thanks all go to other people. 1) Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled by going to Settings>Developer options. USB debugging should be checked.2) Download Poot from the following link: http://db.tt/0HqxEURT. I downloaded this from my phone and my phone put it in the Download folder on my SD Card, but you can download it onto your computer and copy it to your SD Card.3) Download Ministro II from the Google Play store.4) Download Superuser from the Google Play store. There are several, but the one that works for me is the one created by CHAINDD.5) Run Poot-debug(W100).apk from your SD Card. Run the Poot application. There is a button at the top called "Press here to poot". 6) Poot pushes su to xbin.7) Open Superuser application. Slide the screen to the right, go

Wow,extensive forum! Warm welcomes too. Anyway, looking to root a Kocaso 1050S.Been to Kocaso threads, and only found reference from one guy who rooted a M1062 with superuser by chaindd. I'm way out of my element here (this ain't Windows),and a visit to AndroidSU.com got my head spinning trying to follow what I think this guy did. My situation is that I can only find one firmware update from Kocaso's site, and I'm really looking to upgrade from ICS to Jelly Bean.or maybe even Kit Kat.The steps outlined from the parent site seem to conflict with the steps from the sister site where you are sent to download the needed files. If I'm going to incur the cost and the anguish of this procedure to maybe make the perfect brick,I'd rather do it trying to upgrade the OS than the firmware. And I hope I don't need new firmware to root So,is rooting what I need/want to do to upgrade, and if so,can anyone point me in the right direction? Sorry for the lengthy post.
