How to Use ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
Tuesday 23rd of November 2010
We’ve received quite a few questions about what ADB is and how to use it. In the hours that passed after the post about custom ROMs for the Xperia X10, we saw enough come in to merit a post. So, we thought it might be worth helping out you out and answer a couple of questions. Although ADB features a lot of complicated functions, we’ll just do the basic stuff, assuming the average Android user has no need to know about debugging your applications, right? We could immediately start with the functions, but because you can’t do anything without the ADB program, here’s where to find it. ADB is a part of the Android SDK, the program developers use to develop their application. You can find it here. Just select the right file for your computer (Windows, OS X or Linux) and unzip it.OK, now we’re ready to get started. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the SDK and follow this path: “android-sdk_r07-windowsandroid-sdk-windowstools” Here you see a whole lot of .bat and .exe files, but for now, the only one interesting is adb.exe. When you

Where is adb.exe?
Sunday 24th of October 2010
Hello everyone! I apologize if this is in the wrong section. (or the wrong forums, for that matter). I am using the google app inventor, and during setup I have come across a problem. I can't seem to find the adb.exe file that it is asking for. There's a popup telling me to put in the exact location, and I can't find it ^.^'This is the original post from the Google tutorials is as follows, though it doesn't give much description as to how I should find it."When the Blocks editor starts, it attempts to find the adb (Android Debug Bridge) program, which it uses to connect to the phone. If App Inventor cannot locate the program automatically, it will ask you to enter the location where adb is stored. Be sure to enter the complete file name, including (on the Mac or GNU/Linux) adb, and (on Windows) adb.exe. Once you've entered this, App Inventor will remember the location for future sessions. If you change computers, you may need to enter a new location."

Tetherbot, Adb.exe closing
Monday 22nd of June 2009
Hello, I am currently trying to get the tetherbot app to work with a laptop running windows 2000. I have followed all of the various instructions and everything is set up and installed correctly. I am using Firefox with foxyproxy and the adb utility. I start it all up and I am able to load up a website or two but after usually less than a minute a window pops up that says "Program Error" and contains the message "adb.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." When that happens, the adb.exe process closes itself and port 1080 is no longer open so I can no longer connect through my G1. If I try to run adb again with the command "adb forward tcp:1080 tcp:1080" it says *daemon not running. starting it now* *daemon started successfully*error: protocol fault (no status)It will not forward the ports again unless I reboot and then it still only runs for a minute or so before erroring again. Any suggestions? I have looked everywhere but no one seems to have this problem.

LG Motion 4G: Adb.exe: apps to SD card glitch?
Saturday 31st of May 2014
I have an LG motion 4G and the other day I used adb (from the android SDK, adb.exe) to set the default install location to 2 [External] (SD card). Code: shell@android: / $ pm set-install-location 2 pm set-install-location2[external]shell@android:/ $ The command ran succesfully, but everytime I install something "by default" it installs to the internal storage. I checked to make sure it was on the Internal storage: Code: shell@android:/ $ ls sdcard/Android/data (and there the app was com.google.android...) I wasn't on: Code: shell@android:/ $ ls sdcard/external_sd/Android/data I also checked the "Device Storage" and it did take up space from the internal storage. (not the SD card) Any suggestions on any fixes?
