Google News/Weather Widget Issue

Saturday 23rd of January 2010 / droidforums.net
I've been using the Google News and Weather widget .apk 2.1 for about a month now, and has been working flawlessly. About a week ago I replaced it with the transparent .apk file, and again flawless. For some reason starting today I've been having numerous FC issues with it. I am curious if anyone else is having the same problem with it today or if it's just me. I do have about 5 different custom topics set, and I have Prefetch articles and Images enabled. Thanks in advance.EDIT: I meant to add the word "Issue" at the end of my topic but can't edit that now, so I'm stuck with it saying "Google News/Weather Widget" like I know something about it or something lol.

Transparent weather widget?

Tuesday 11th of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Been searching around on google and found some info on making the weather widget transparent. My question is, does the phone have to be rooted in order to do this? Just wondered if someone has done this to their phone? I would like to make mine transparent. Anybody got any suggestions?

Transparent Weather Widget for SG4GE...Recommendations?

Wednesday 07th of August 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
At the risk of asking what may be for most of you power Android users a trivial question, I was hoping to get feedback on which weather widget you recommend on your home screen. I put the stock News and Weather one in the widget gallery on the home screen - very simple, fine for me - but I don't like having a black rectangular box on top of my beautiful Cuben wallpaper. I couldn't find a transparent setting, so I went searching for a different weather widget. There seem to be so many of them and everyone has a favorite on other Android devices. I kind of like the transparent simple Android clock that is shipped on the home screen, but I'm not stuck on using it if I find something that looks better - and I see that a lot of these weather widgets include clocks. Just reaching out to get other peoples recommendations and hopefully let people show off their weather widget on the Google Edition phone. Thanks.

Transparent weather widget

I like the weather widget/clock that comes with the S4 but I wanted to know if it can be made transparent? I have a live wallpaper that I like but the weather widget covers it up. Thanks

Transparency Mod For The LG G2 Weather Widget!

Friday 28th of March 2014 / droidforums.net
One of the things that has always set Android apart from other mobile operating systems is the ability to run widgets. While widgets give us access to important information quickly they can often take up lots of space and can look a bit clunky at times. Most OEM weather and clock widgets have a distinct background, but a transparent background would look much cleaner and would declutter the home screen. The LG G2 Weather widget displays an animation of the Weather in the background. This looks nice but it would look even better if it were transparent. With the transparent weather widget mod for the LG G2 you still get the weather animations but you get a much cleaner look. This mod is in apk form, you will need to be running stock on your LG G2 and you will need to be rooted. You will also need to have a root file browser installed. Within the root browser you will need to navigate to the system/app directory, find the stock version of the widget named "LGWeatherTheme.apk" rename it to "LGWeatherTheme.apk.bak", then you can simply copy the moddified apk to the sys

Weather widget theme mods (black and transparent)

Sunday 05th of October 2014 / androidforums.com
Following a request to look into this in the general LG Volt forums, I did some digging and figured out how they did it over on the G2. This will set your LG Weather widget background to either black or transparent based upon which apk you choose. If anyone wants to know how I did this, just lemme know and Ill post a mini guide in a comment below.I take no responsibility for you messing your phone up (follow the directions and you will be fine)NEED:RootRoot browser app of some sortUSB cableTransfer either Black-LGWeatherTheme.apk or Transparent-LGWeatherTheme.apk to your internal sdcard, i used adb but you can use mtp/regular plug in phone copy to sdcard method if you want.Quote:

Weather widget lost?

Thursday 08th of January 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
I've had this phone for a while and I've always had the weather widget on home screen. I have alcatel onetouch idol 2s. I sent it out for repair and it came back factory reset. The widget was there on the homescreen, I went to move it to another page and I ended up removing it. I checked for it in the widgets and it's not there. The one I had was transparent and the only ones there are opaque. Any Ideas where I can find the stock widget? This is what I should have......

I need help with my weather widget PLEASE

Saturday 10th of January 2015 / forums.androidcentral.com
Yesterday I accidentally removed my weather widget from the home screen on my GS5 and when I held down the empty space and tried to get the weather widget back it isn't the same one anymore. Now it is that ugly one with the grass and trees. The one I had before showed different pics like when it was cloudy it just showed clouds or sun or snow. I'm not talking about transparency because I know how to make my widget look transparent. I just want the same widget I had before it was the one that came with the phone i never downloaded another weather app. I also can uninstall and reinstall because the phone doesn't give me that option. I wish I could upload a picture to show exactly what i mean,
