Can "set up SIM card lock" cause software problem?

Tuesday 22nd of January 2013 / droidforums.net
Greetings, Droid 4, not rooteddrivers updated from Motorola websiteAndroid 2.3.6built ..6.5.1_167_DR4_1I plan using the phone for work and banking. Can "set up SIM card lock cause software device problem"? I ask because the nice lady at the Verizon store said I "would become a frequent walk in at the store, and risk losing my info." She implied it was a problem with the phone, vs. user error.I use the screen lock, and set the Data encryption to "protect the data on your phone or memory card."I did some searching and read about quite a few mishaps with Sim card lock, but most seem to use/abuse of the phone. Some problems stem from entering the wrong password at set up of Sim card lockSo my questions are:Is this a redundant pass code with only a small benefit? Are there software issues with the Droid 4/Android with this type of security? At the first set up, do I use my unlock screen code, or do use the factory default Sim card?I did go to My Verizon and get my Sim card PUK code(Personal Unlock Code). Just in case. Thanks for looking.Norm

Phone suddenly PUK locked?

Saturday 28th of July 2012 / androidforums.com
All right guys, I've got a bit of a problem here.I'm running a Rooted Insipre with 4.0.3. I don't know anything about rooting and my friend did this for me, so all I know is it's most likely using ClockWorkMod if I'm looking at this right. The problem is: I enabled the SIM card lock, so whenever I turned on my phone the first thing it would do after boot is ask for a PIN to unlock my password. About maybe a month later, today, I woke up and booted my phone to find now it was asking for an 8-digit PUK code along with a 'New Pin Code'.I have no idea what a PUK code even is and I never set it.I've gotten to the point of having factory reset my phone and it's still asking for both codes. Thanks in advance for your help!

Warning: Don't accidentally lock out your SIM card!!!

Wednesday 23rd of March 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
This mistake is costing me a lot of frustration and wasted time. Apparently, Verizon Wireless today is having some kind of customer service database problems for the past two hours and basically can't do anything. Timely that I would decide this morning to try and set up a password for my SIM card. I thought the phone was asking me to enter (read: create) the password for the SIM card, but nope... it already has a default password, and was asking me to enter that. I entered (read: tried to create) a password twice, and BAM... locked out of my phone. The only way to unlock the phone now is to enter a PUK code, which Verizon does not give you when you buy your phone. Since the phone is locked, I have no way to call Verizon Support. I went down to the retail store instead, and found out there is nothing they can do until their systems are back up... with NO ETA after an hour of being down. So, I had to leave my phone with them and will have to go back later to pick it up once they fix the issue. !@#!@$

Unlock SIM PUK code

Monday 12th of August 2013 / androidforums.com
I use a Droid Incredible 4G LTE by HTC, and my carrier is Verizon Wireless. I've recently I've accidentally locked myself out by trying to unlock the SIM code. I entered wrong three times and now it is requiring me to enter my eight digit SIM PUK code, and I have no idea what it is. So far when it asked me to do so, I entered a random eight digit number to see what would happen, and it asked me to enter and re-enter a new 4-8 digit SIM lock code. When I did, it told me that the code I've entered doesn't match with the SIM PUK password. Please help!

Phone locked.... Locked SIM card

Wednesday 15th of January 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
A couple of hours ago I was messing around with my settings. I was trying to put a pin code on my SIM card. Thinking that it was factory set to the last four digits of my phone number (which was wrong) but tried it again maybe I had dialed a wrong digit the first time, but still nothing. Lastly I tried '0000' and all of a sudden the screen went dark. When it came to, the screen read: "PIN BLOCKED, Contact your service provider to unlock your SIM card, Emergency Calls Only" I know my PUK code but it doesn't give me an option to enter it anywhere..... Can someone help me out? Week old phone, now an expensive paperweight.

Really weird problem: Samsung Galaxy S3 SIM-locked itself?

Monday 11th of August 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi! I would be very thankful if anyone could give me any advice on how to unlock my phone. Here's the deal: Yesterday morning I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy S3 had turned off during the night. Normal enough. I opened it and it asked for the PIN code. The screen looked different from the usual PIN code typing screen. It accepted the PIN code that I typed on the first try, so that was fine. However, after this another screen came up. It had the same kind of keypad than that for typing the PIN code, but it said on the screen "Give a PIN code for the removal operation of the locking" (My phone is in Finnish so this is a translation, although somewhat a literal one. Originally it said "Anna lukituksen poistotoiminnon PIN-koodi", if that is of interest to anyone.) Naturally I cannot take a screen shot of this, but I could try taking a picture on a camera soon. This is not the screen lock. I tried it. It isn't asking for my PIN code again either. I tried that too. Now I have only one try left. It is not asking for the PUK code either, I typed my PIN entirely correctly

Unlock screen issues after restart

Thursday 28th of August 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello everyone, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505), with latest update 4.4.2 KitKat.After i am restarting my phone, the unlock buttons on screen are changing position. If i am tapping my Sim PIN according to the position of buttons, it says wrong PIN. After 3 fails i have to enter the PUK code (which is normal) .. However, if i am tapping the PIN where the buttons should be, works like a charm. I have to mention that i have no problems with keyboard in sending messages, writing emails, landscape or portrait orientation, no problems with the digitizer, no problem at all. Only on the unlock screen. Second issue is with Viber, an issue that me and many people i know encounter. When you want to end the Viber call, and the screen is locked, you can't. The screen is black and not responding to the home button press or lock/unlock button. The soft keys are lit but nothing happens. Any ideeas for those issues? Thank you! P.S. (first print screen with problem, second one with correct position. On the wrong screen you can see that between the rows there is less space, message, clock, date
