power button and notifications
Tuesday 27th of July 2010
I posted in the tech forum but this forum has more viewers. When my captivate is asleep and I check it for and notifications by hitting the power button I can see an email notification on the notification bar....now if I swipe the screen and open the phone...the notification remains.....if I say "I'll check it later" and hit the power button again to put it back to sleep, the notification is erased...not the email...just the notification. So far I have only noticed this with my gmail...other notifications stay...such as Twitter and voicemail and RSS feeder updates.this is when I press the button quickly to "sleep" the screen...not shut the phone down.
Problem with power button and screen not turning off...
Friday 18th of November 2011
I've read around a few different places about people having thsi same problem. I am experiencing the home button taking snap shots problem Along with it being nearly impossible for me to use the power button to turn off my screen now, When i press it it goes black then turns right back on, over and over and over again. This is the cause of the screenshot problem as well because the phone thinks the powerbutton must be being held down. I've read about this other places... Where is the fix? Has there been one yet? Any help?

Very sensitive power button and random restarts gs3
Thursday 05th of September 2013
At a bit if a loss here, I replaced the power button but that doesn't seem to be the problem. It appears to press and return correctly yet it is still very sensitive at the slightest touch. The phone will also just randomly restart itself sometimes, I think it's related to the power button but it doesn't really make sense... When the phone restarts, it will then sometimes get stuck in a loop of displaying galaxy s3 logo, shutting off then starting again. Is there any chance this can be related to the battery or contact at all? One of the 4 battery contacts on the phone is ever so slightly lower than the other three but I'm not sure if this is actually significant. Help much appreciated!
Powering the phone without using the power button and other issues??
Sunday 15th of September 2013
Hello, I hope this is the place for this post, sorry if it isn't. I recently dropped my nexus 4 in the toilet (thankfully I had already flushed), the power button and phone seemed to be working fine. Now (1 day later) the power button has stopped working, my thumb is now very sore. I managed to start the phone with lots of pressing eventually but I need a way to start the phone without my thumb eventually falling off. I then downloaded smart screen on lite (which I didn't understand) and smart screen off ...... then I screwed things up. I tried to force stop smart screen and then the screen went blank but if I used the volume rocker then I could hear the ring tone adjusting and randomly the screen would show. I then reset the phone at one of the times the screen would work. When reset, the phone works (power button excluded) but as soon as I linked it to my google account the same problem occurred as it automatically downloads the two apps that screwed the phone to begin with. My second question is, is there a way to stop the phone automatically downloading an app when I link it to

Random Restarts & 'Sensitive' Power Button
Friday 23rd of May 2014
I have the International version (GT-I9000). A few months ago I had the OTA notification for the 4.3 update. The update failed and when rebooting the phone, it only booted to the blue Samsung screen. A factory reset didn't work so I took it to a repair shop. They reflashed my phone and updated to 4.3. My phone was mostly fine for a while, but now, seemingly randomly, my phone will suddenly turn itself off while I'm using it, when it's sat on my desk/arm of the chair etc.Sometimes it'll start up straight away and boot to the lock screen. Sometimes it gets stuck in a loop at the white Samsung galaxy S3 screen. Now and then, when it boots to the lock screen and I unlock it, the background has defaulted to the stock screen, and the message 'Unfortunately TouchWiz has stopped.'The screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then everythings fine. Also, I'm not sure it's related, but the power button seems super sensitive. I only have to lightly brush the button or the casing around the button and the power button appears, or the screen locks.I have already tried a factory reset, and boo
How to Stop both Power Button and Home Button from turning on the phone ???
Monday 15th of June 2015
We have 2 of these S5 Active phones. Previous Motorola trix owners. Generally nice, full featured, quite happy with them. However, BY FAR the most infuriating feature of these things is that both the power button and the Home key or button will turn on the phone display. This means they are constantly being triggered while in the pockets and purses of the world. I think it is flat out stupid. Samsung lamely responds that "a future model may take care of this issue." Absurd. Surely there is a way in software to preclude one of the two keys from turning on the display. Anyone know a solution ?
