Problem found by anti virus Avast, Any idea what it is?
Tuesday 09th of April 2013
So recently my anti virus app has found 1 problem found. it's from /storage/emulated/0/60822af8...etc. I don't think I've downloaded anything suspicious recently. Does anyone know what it is? And if it's cause for alarm? And I should point out that when I was in chrome, the tab was that name too, the /storage/emulated thing. So I'm thinking if it's a chrome update that did this, but I'd like a confirmation from others. It came up on both my Nexus 7 tablet and my Galaxy nexus phone. Screenshot:
Another sdcard/0 problem
Wednesday 27th of March 2013
I tried to follow all of this. Really I did. But I got kinda lost while looking at my own files. I have in my storage folder an emulated folder and a sdcard/0 -> legacy folder and a usbdisk folder. When I clock on the storage folder it opens to show a storage/emulated/0 and a storage/emulated/legacy folder. The storage/emulated/0 folder has all of my files in it.The storage/emulated/legacy folder has all of my files in it!Backing up and opening /storage/sdcard0 I find all of my files again.USBDISK is empty. So, what do I delete and what do I keep? I am thinking that I should delete the emulated folder and everything in it but that scares the bejezus out of me!Nandroid backups are being saved in my emulated folder so I can't even keep a safety net.
error: SD Card is blank or contains unsupported files
Wednesday 12th of June 2013
I have an error message that reads; "SD card is blank or contains unsupported files". I removed the back of my phone and found the SD card out and just laying there. When I click on that message prompt it is asking me to format the sd card.I am assuming now that every picture and video is now stored on the phones memory which is not where I want it to be stored. I go to apps/my files and the path is /storage/emulated/0.Does that path mean these are stored on my phone? I lost my home pc this week also so until it is fixed I cannot load my sd card onto my pc to see what if anything is on it.Can I move all those pics from my phone memory to the sd card? If so just do it through my home pc when I fix it? Or can I move them via the phone?I want to save the files I already set up if possible and just get everything pointing back to the sd card without a bunch of hassle. Also, was I supposed to format the SD card when I first put it into the phone? Thanks for any help.

Nexus 5 Storage
Wednesday 13th of November 2013
Hi, so after some very irritating years with a Galaxy Q, and HTC Desire C, I decided that I'd upgrade my phone, and chose the brand new N5. Batterywise, it isn't great but much better than my previous device. Sadly, there is no SD slot, and I went with the 16 GB option. I noticed in my file explorer (storage/emulated) that there are two folders; "0" and "legacy" and they are identical. This limits my space. What do I do? Thanks!
Internal Storage/Ext Storage duplicate files?
Monday 02nd of December 2013
I've been into the basics of rooting and custom ROMs for a few years, but I've never really come across a post about this... I recently installed the newest Gummy ROM on my S4 to get a taste for KitKat and came across an issue with the camera app not immediately saving recently snapped photos to the gallery. It gives a quick preview of the photo, but if you swipe right to the gallery, the pictures aren't there until you close and reopen the app. I took a look around the system folders w Root Browser and really had trouble understanding what the OS was doing with these photos! Multiple questions have arisen, so here we go... Why am I seeing my photos (visible from the gallery app) in multiple places on my internal phone storage and SD card?Gallery looks like this: System folders view (this is the highest level on the file tree that I can view from this app): I'm seeing the same photos in "/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera/", as well as "/sdcard/DCIM/Camera/." All of these photos were taken on my previous ROM (CM10.1.3) and the newest photos i've taken on Gummy ar
What is /storage/emulated ?
Saturday 14th of December 2013
I presume it's some kind of new memory scheme? I'm referring to my Nexus 7/13 of course, with Android 4.4.2Specifically, you have:/storage/emulated/0 and/storage/emulated/sdcard0But it's also redundant, because you also have:/sdcardWhich is like the older Android OS.Can anyone put a little clarity to this mess?thx
help understanding android file structure
Thursday 20th of February 2014
ok, in my root folder I have /mnt and /storage. what is the difference between the two? in /storage/emulated I find /0 and /legacy. I compared both folders with es explorer and they're both exactly the same file, folder and byte-wise. does this mean it is taking twice the storage space? also under /mnt/shell/emulated I also find /0 and /legacy. however, here /legacy is empty and /0 does not match the one under /storage/emulated. please help me makes sense of all this. thanks. running 4.2.2 by the way. sent from my LG G2 with tapatalk pro
Internal Storage Mystery?
Monday 07th of April 2014
Hello, I'm recently becoming quite confused about this device's internal storage.... I've been getting the warning messages about low internal storage, so I've been sorting through my files trying to find the space hog/s using ES File Manager: My internal storage is listed as 8.47GB full out of 9.85GB total. But when I highlight all files and folders on the entire internal disk (the folder "sdcard0"...or the identical/dummy file structures in "emulated" etc), it tells me there's only 1.73GB used total.I can highlight each folder and file one by one (including all 'hidden' files and folders) and add them all up, or just get the properties of the entire disk at once; any method adds up to there being just 1.73GB worth of files and folders on the disk. Yet the ES file manager 'homepage' window, AND the samsung settings storage thing both list the internal storage as being 8.47GB used out of 9.85GB total, with 1.38GB free. Does anyone know what is going on?? The difference between the files listed on the disk and the actual usable space is nearly 7GB. ?? Thanks!
