Android System RAM Issue
Tuesday 22nd of February 2011
So, I noticed my Droid would slow down sometimes, and when looking for the answer, I noticed I only had about 40MB of free RAM. However, I noticed only a few apps were loaded into memory. I killed everything out of curiosity, and was left with less than 100MB.So I go looking for the answer. I checked the Android system processes, and I noticed that android.process.media was consuming a massive 197MB of memory!I can't close the process. I'm not sure why it's consuming this much memory and not freeing it up. I'm guessing there's a memory leak somewhere. This is the second time it's happened, and for all I know it could have been happening for a long time.Any ideas?Sent from my Droid 2 Global running Fission using the DroidForums app.
Why is my Epic slow?
Friday 21st of January 2011
So I've been running an Epic since early November and I've always been pretty happy with it (particuliarly compared the Moment I replaced), but yesterday my wife upgraded to one and WOW is it faster then mine. Using the same WiFi network, she can open the android market it a matter of 2-3 seconds where my phone it can take upwards of 2 MINUTES! Now, here phone is basically stock and we've installed very few apps over what comes on the phone (nook, ipfob, upgraded the stock apps). Mine, on the other hand, has been running DK28 since it came out. I also use LauncherProPlus instead of touchwiz and I've recently rooted (but I have yet to install a custom kernel). Is it because I have too many apps installed? Is it something about LauncherPro, DK28? The other apps I've "upgraded" now that I'm on 2.2 (gmail, voice search, google search, maps, etc.)? Any thoughts? My reaction is that I've got too much installed (~100 apps in total) with only about 70 MB of free installation space. I would love it if my phone could run like her's. I realize I would get some benefit from ext4, but
Why is my android market running extremely slow?
Saturday 08th of May 2010
I did a revert back to stock android from droidmod and now when I go into the market and click on an app, it takes at least 45 seconds to load the app info and then another 45 sections before the screen where it shows you what the app accesses. Also when I click apps and go to a certain category. At the top only top free and just in show up, no top paid. Does anyone know anything I can do to fix this?

Maintanance, maybe. Server load, definitely not. Not for google. Maybe a database issuewhatever it is, A week of this is pretty redic. And 45 seconds to load each screen can be an under estimate at times. Anyways google, please fix. Ive been slacking on app updates because its become a chore with the wait times
samsung galaxy s - Why is my captivate able to run flash on android 2.1?
Saturday 25th of December 2010
I just noticed that my Captivate can play some flash videos, animations, and to an extent, flash games using the stock android browser running android 2.1. It is incredibly slow and takes forever to load, but it does work as far as i could tell (although incredibly slowly and it uses huge amounts of CPU before it finishes loading...almost like it is recompiling the flash application before running it).My phone status still says that my phone is running 2.1 eclair and I thought that only 2.2 could run flash. Also I haven't downloaded the flash 10.1 application yet either. What is going on?

Monday 05th of March 2012
hey guys, im a proud owner of a new galaxy note, im still in the process of getting used to Android from my apple iphone (i owned all generations of the iphone up to the 4) i am content with the phone, however is anyone else noticing VERY SLOW internet loading times? i mean come on, i havent been so frustrated with loading times on any of my devices (laptop, iphone, ipad, etcetc) for the past couple years. i know the specs of this phone is supposed to be better than an iphone 4, however why is the internet so slow? i doubt it is my internet connection because i compared and made couple webpage loading times with my iphone 4. (I am running the tests on my wifi) the green loading bar takes forever to reach the max. i say estimated about 5~15 seconds more than my iphone when i ran a few tests. also, do you guys notice the 4g and the 4g LTE signal on your phones? im not too sure, but i dont think i have seen a "4g LTE" signal as of yet.. Please reply to this thread as i would like to know how others are dealing with their phones!im hoping that my phone is a defected one so tha
Brand New Galaxy S2 Skyrock running slow?? Please Help!
Saturday 31st of December 2011
Hello all,As I just recently bought an android phone, I am new both to android and this forum- so I'm not really sure if this is the place to post this, but please help as I am experiencing some frustrating issues!Let me begin by saying I just bought the new Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. My first impression of this phone was WOW! The screen size/resolution is amazing. Everything I seemed to do happened immediately and with no delay. Very intuitive user interface, so on a so forth. ...Then I started downloading some apps. The main app I use is words with friends. I like to play against my wife who has the Motorola Atrix. I started noticing that my WWF app was taking a long time to load (even compared to my Iphone 3gs that I just upgraded from) so, naturually, I compared the two. Her's loaded about twice as quickly as mine! And I started noticing some other things too that started to irk me: when opening Pandora I had to go through buffering (which varies how long it takes each time). I never had to buffer when Pandora started when using my 3GS. Why would this be? I guess I'm just confu
Why is Verizon slow?
Tuesday 21st of August 2012
So I am relatively new in the Android community. I started with the LG Ally (hated it) but stuck with Android anyway. I now have the Droid X and am starting to understand the OS upgrades and why they are better than the ones before them. One thing I would like to understand is why Verizon is slow to respond to OS upgrades? I get that companies are less likely to upgrade old phones (I'm running Gingerbread I think) but why does Sprint and AT&T upgrade their phones much quicker?Again, I am new so could have my information wrong...
My S3 is VERY slow and my Android System is using 64% of my CPU. Why?
Friday 31st of October 2014
My battery usage has doubled in the past few days. Looking at my battery usage it's showing that Android system is using 63% of my cpu and my wireless communication is running a lot. I finally had to shut it off. I've tried the old reboot a few times but that only works temporarily.
Why is my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Stuck on First Boot Logo?? Hard Bricked??
Monday 12th of January 2015
I bought a Note II from someone (AT&T SGH-I317) that was apparently stuck in boot loop. I turned the phone on and besides the start up being a bit laggy it seemed fine running Android 4.1.2. There were a few issues like the S-Note application would crash and it was running slow so I decided to bring it back to its original firmware using Odin3 v3.07. That worked fine and I was running Android 4.1.1 on it. Later I decided to try using the AT&T factory update feature so I could get it running the latest firmware. After the update completed the phone restarted and has since been stuck on the first Samsung Galaxy Note II loading screen. I can not access the recovery menu at all, but I can access the download menu. Ive tried a thousand times to access the recovery. Ive tried many different kinds of custom recoveries, Ive tried to install the stock firmware again but nothing works. I dont know what to do. Please help! Thank youFrom what Ive heard, this phone had been "fixed" before because of a boot loop issue.
