Can someone help me make android apn proxy settings work?
Thursday 19th of August 2010
I have tried this on a g1 on anything from 1.0 to 2.2,a cliq and a cliq xt both on 1.5,and on an htc hd2 running 2.1 and 2.2. What happens is no matter what I type in as the proxy in apn settings,it is completely ignored. I am using the sidekick prepaid plan, which blocks ports 80 and 443,so no web browsing normally, but a proxy works if used on port 9201. i have tested this in windows mobile and it works perfectly,so I know it is not a plan issue,it is android that ignores the settings. When I try it in windows mobile, all apps follow the settings and everything works, but in android the browser will follow the settings, but everything else still trys to connect normally without the proxy so I keep getting notifications saying I have a sync error with my account, and no apps other than the browser will connect. market keeps saying it can't connect, retry or cancel and maps just says data connection lost, retrying. those are just 2 examples. On the HD2 builds,I have a unique situation because it is using rmnet to connect instead of a direct ppp connection, and it works occasionally. If I type

I have used Apple products before, but now am a die hard android fan.I have used Apple products before, but now am a die hard android fan. I ask this because when you are using an Apple product over a Wi-Fi network with proxy settings it's easy and you enter your settings once and all the applications will be working. But with android only the browser works and you can't even download anything using the play store or other applications. Please improve that and add value to android experience.

Monday 16th of April 2012
i ave made a script to change the rtsp and httppd proxy settings. since the newer roms dont have dial menus this will change the proxy settings from the data programing (##3282#) menu. This should give you a 20%-30% speed increase in 3G. Internet Connectivity Proxy Settings Problem
Monday 20th of January 2014
I chose to update my Galaxy S4 Active to 4.3 over night, and when I woke up, it was completed, but trying to use a valid WiFi connection results in "Unable to connect to proxy server" error in the default browser app, and Chrome. I checked my internet connection settings and the proxy settings are turned off, yet it has been having this problem for over a day now. Even though I am having problems, the Instagram app still works fine, and everything is loading fine in it, but apps like Twitter, Snapchat, Google Chrome, and many others are having connectivity problems. The problem isn't my internet, because it is working fine on my laptop, so I have no idea what is wrong. It was working fine before I updated, so it has to be a problem with the new update. It is driving me insane, and it is upsetting that my phone is now rendered pretty much useless! Does ANYBODY have a clue what could be wrong, or know a fix to the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Changing Proxy settings for a WIFI connection
Tuesday 20th of May 2014
Hi,I am coding a system application which offers web-filtering on Android devices. Global web-filtering is a headache (if not specific browser based) but I am managing to do it by means of a Proxy server hosted on the device itself. The idea is to change programmatically the Proxy settings of the device (when connected to a WIFI connection) and point towards the internal Proxy server. So far so good.My question relies on what is affected by changing the Proxy settings. All browsers are denied access if the Proxy server is not running, which is great. However Email applications still receive/send e-mails, as well as FTP Clients can still connect to an FTP Server and modify files remotely. How is this possible? Does the Android Proxy settings only apply to HTTP/HTTPS requests? Are all other protocol requests going out/in the device ignoring the Proxy settings? Thanks!pejT
