rooted wi-fi tethering on zte z992?
Thursday 28th of November 2013
Hi guys, I'm trying to bypass at&t and use my ZTE z992 (avail 2)'s wifi tethering capability without upgrading my data plan. I've rooted my device with cydia impactor and i've got the Wi-fi Tethering for root users (TrevE mod) app, which is telling me that tethering is working successfully, however I am unable to see the SSID of my tether network on any of my wi-fi devices. I tried manually entering in the SSID and WPA key and connecting that way, to no avail (wow i just made a pun). Can anyone help me out here? Has anyone successfully bypassed carrier restrictions for wifi tethering on this phone?I tried messing with the settings on the wifi tether apk, i still can't get the network to show up anywhere.Help meeee!

ZTE Avail 2 (Z992) root help
Thursday 23rd of October 2014
So here is my issue, I have a ZTE Avail 2, a chromebook, and internet access. The chromebook is useless for running cydia impactor or anything else so I need a root method that does not require a computer. I have tried everything labeled "root no computer" on google and none have worked or bricked my phone. I am running Jellybean 4.1.1 and am not sure if it was ever updated since it is a used phone. If anyone can PLEASE help I understand it is an old phone but I have never had this issue, I have rooted many phones with many methods and have never hit a roadblock this big that not even the threads could help. I want to keep everything stock, the only reason I want it rooted is to delete the bloatware and maybe (if I get to keep THIS phone) tinker with a few other things. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help or knows a 100% successful method.
Loss Of Root On My ZTE Z992 Avail 2
Monday 23rd of February 2015
Hey, I'm new here so please be nice if I mess up lol. So, its been like this for awhile but about a month or two ago, my Avail 2 quit letting me use root access. I checked a lot of other sites but they were of no help. The way I rooted the phone was by an app(which was successful for awhile until it stopped). I don't have a computer which is why I used the app. I checked SuperSU and it said the SUbinary or something like that was not installed and Super SU couldn't install it. That's when I check root checker for the second time and it said root not properly installed. So.. I'm very frustrated and I would try and remove the installed root or whatever's there but I have no PC at my finger tips so yea. If you can or cannot help, thanks either way. From what I've seen, the phone might not have a way of getting help. I did factory reset btw(is hard reset the same as that? I might try that if not)
